Research Program Manager - Neurology Department
*This position will be fully on-site*

The Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center is a nationally recognized leader in the comprehensive management of neurological conditions. Our vibrant department comprises more than 75 full-time faculty in 12 subspecialty sections, supporting a spectrum of complex and innovative approaches to neurological care, a broad range of novel Research Programs, and a panoply of educational opportunities for trainees. The department offers access to the latest innovative treatments in one of the most rapidly advancing fields of medicine and features an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Level-4 NEAC Epilepsy Center. Through collaborations with the O'Donnell Brain Institute, the department is building state-of-the art facilities for drug and device testing and bringing current and new faculty together for collaborative research on brain disease therapy.
Position Summary & Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
The section of Behavioral Neurology in the Department of Neurology is seeking a dynamic and experienced manager for a new clinical Research Program focused on Alzheimer's disease and related Disorders (AD/ADRD), Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risk factors such as hypertension and AD/ADRD health disparity.
The prospective applicant will be involved in multiple projects, activities and responsibilities as described but not limited to the below descriptions:
  • Oversee NIH and non-NIH study start up and coordinating with department and NTRC recruitment and workflow.
  • Assist in preparing research proposals and NIH or non-federal grant applications.
  • Manages staff assignments, training, performance evaluation and HR related issues.
  • Manage and create budgets for ongoing and future projects.
  • Manages IRB communication and compliance for ongoing studies for the PI.
  • Submit amendments for IRB protocols.
  • Organize investigator and staff meetings for the PI projects.
  • Work with SPA and Grants admin program to prepare RPPR, CROMIS and Data Sharing Plans.
  • Master's or doctorate degree in a related field to Health sciences is preferred.
Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in science, finance or related field and eight (8) years related experience in research, research administration or non-profit administration.
  • Must be familiar with NIH research grant preparation and management.
  • Requires advanced PC expertise including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software.
  • Prior experience related to research administration is strongly preferred.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Heart Saver may be required based on research study protocols or affiliate location requirements.
Job Duties
  • Supports research within multiple departments or business units by developing and enhancing shared facilities and programs; develops and implements procedures to optimize operations and resource utilization; tracks, evaluates, and reports progress of shared resources.
  • Promotes collaboration among investigators and across disciplines, departments and institutions; organizes meetings, seminars and conferences; manages internal and external communications of the department; oversees information services group in developing web-based research collaboration tools and databases.
  • Supports new research funding opportunities; works with faculty and departmental grants managers to assist with multi-investigator grant proposals including planning, budget preparation, administrative coordination and submission. Works closely with UTSW Foundation and development staff to identify opportunities for philanthropic support; assists Chair by serving as liaison to key university, community and funding partners.
  • Designs and conducts surveys on research space utilization. Analyzes and compiles data on departmental productivity, space requirements and utilization by researchers.
  • Assists with strategic development of new Research Programs and initiatives; oversees clinical trials operations, and research compliance.
  • Develops processes regarding terminating research faculty.
  • **Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
