Job Description

About the Company:

Octave is a modern behavioral health practice creating a new standard for care delivery that's both high-quality and accessible. With in-person and virtual clinics in multiple states, the company offers evidence-based individual, couples, and family therapy, while pioneering relationships with payers to make care more affordable through insurance. By raising the bar on how care is delivered and how providers are supported, we are building a sustainable system that values equity, affordability, and effectiveness.

About the Role:

The Research, Director will be responsible for leading and growing Octave's research program and quality initiatives. This position will provide insights in support of our clinical and operational leadership teams. The research will include analysis of provider level data, broader performance of all providers in our network as well as patient specific progress. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social sciences with a focus on research of psychotherapy outcomes and delivery of quality care. This position is expected to lead and support our mission to bring quality, outcomes driven mental healthcare to millions of insured individuals.

Management Responsibilities:
  • Provide day to day leadership and guidance to the various operational teams, ensuring professional development and performance management in achieving goals and objectives.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and collaborative work environment.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of projects and initiatives within the team.
  • Establish and monitor operational processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Balance data driven needs with execution and operational capabilities in a multi-state network of providers.
  • Implement best practices, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and develop strategies to achieve excellence.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Work closely with Clinical and Operational leadership to provide guidance and insights for the clinical program, including further establishing quality and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence and Business Operations teams and analysts for data inputs.
  • Oversee allocation of various resources to achieve goals for the research program, specifically assessing the impact and effectiveness of psychotherapeutic interventions via evaluations of the outcomes data and our QA program.
  • Utilize both quantitative and qualitative research methods to gather, analyze and synthesize data.
  • Contribute to the delivery of effective care from our network of providers with data driven QA insights.
  • Lead the efforts towards publication of analyzed data for various audiences.
  • Support representation of Octave's clinical quality and performance with external parties.
  • Embody and incorporate Octaves values.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PsyD, PhD in social sciences or equivalent experience conducting research.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a combination of operational settings, people management or consulting roles. Startup experience is strongly preferred.
  • Passion for mental health and changing the healthcare landscape.
  • Proven work and/or academic experience in conducting applied effectiveness research in behavioral health.
  • Familiarity with research methodologies, statistical analysis, data based decision making and business analytics tools such as Tableau and Excel
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, as well as experience with use of statistical software such as SPSS, R or similar.
  • Ability to present complex research findings to diverse audiences.
  • Experience implementing quality initiatives and/or programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a preference to work as part of a team.
Octave's Company Values:

The below values drive our day-to-day operations.

  • We're human beings first. We operate with empathy and kindness – with our clients, with our collaborators, and with ourselves.
  • People deserve better than status quo. We're willing to tackle the intractable problems, no matter how big, because someone should. We ask big questions, we craft big solutions, and we challenge ourselves and others to make it happen.
  • No bystanders. No stars. No tourists. Each person has been selected to be here, and with that comes a responsibility to bring your expertise, share your ideas, and help make this company better.
  • Partnership paves the path ahead. We don't operate in a silo, internally or externally. To transform the system, we believe in working with others to create something bigger, better, and stronger.
  • Quality is crucial at scale. Quality is core to our business, and we refuse to sacrifice it as we grow.
  • Progress is a process. In the pursuit of progress, we iterate, reflect, learn, adjust – and always leave things better than we found them.
  • There are people behind every data point. We recognize that numbers tell only one part of the story, and we also do the work to understand impacts at the individual level.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to frequently communicate with others through virtual meeting applications such as Zoom and Google Meet.
  • Must be able to observe and communicate information on company provided laptop.
  • Move up to 10 pounds on occasion.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Compensation:

Octave is committed to pay equity. To maintain our commitment to pay equity, Octave will follow Pay Transparency regulations on all open job postings.
