About the Role
As a Research Associate I or II (Temp) in Neochromosome's genome-scale cell engineering Foundry, you will be responsible for carrying out wet lab experiments to support Neo's growing DNA Services manufacturing operations as well as R&D needs. This individual will work with a team of scientists, Research Associates and automation engineers to ensure delivery on production goals.
Note: This is a temporary position (3-6 months) with the potential of extending or becoming permanent, at discretion of the employer.
What You Will Do
• Contribute to DNA scale up production activities to ensure daily project deliverables are met
• Work closely with a team of scientists and automation experts to meet timelines
• Contribute to efforts to establish and implement standard operating procedures for DNA manufacturing
• Contribute to lab experiments for the development, validation, and day-to-day operation of automated protocols and workflows
• Contribute to lab day-to-day operations (media prep, inventory etc.)
• Operate automated instrumentation for high throughput workflows
• Track experimental progress using a custom Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and electronic lab notebooks
• Provide training to junior members of the team
• Be one team, demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
The RA I or II (Temp) will report to the Foundry Senior Scientist II.
What We Are Looking For
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in molecular biology, microbiology, chemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, biochemistry or related scientific or technical field, or equivalent experience
Required Experience:
• Minimum of 1 year practical experience in an industry or academic microbiology laboratory required
• Experience with DNA extraction required
• Experience with planning and executing PCR experiments required
• Experience developing experimental workflows and standard operating procedures preferred
Preferred Experience
• Experience with planning and executing cloning experiments preferred
• Experience with laboratory automation systems preferred
• Experience with plasmid editing software (e.g. Ape, Snapgene) preferred

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
• This role will require the candidate to be on-site daily
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
Compensation Range: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $28.85 and $38.46 per hour; however base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and years of experience. We typically target mid-range for well-qualified candidates.
