Job Overview

The Research Assistant will be a member of the Center for Community-Engaged Medicine, within the Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

The Research Assistant will work both independently and with the research, training, and networks teams to support the activities of the Center. The Research Assistant will also develop and implement projects, research, and trainings and contribute text to reports and manuscripts. The work of the Center is new and evolving and is appropriate for someone who embraces the flexible culture of a learning organization.


Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in an Educational Related Program, relevant to research.

2. Two (2) years of research experience. which can include work performed while a student


Preferred Qualifications
:

1. Master’s degree in a quantitative or scientific area of study.

2. Three (3) years of academic, clinical, or scientific research in a medical setting.


Duties and Responsibilities
:

Responsible for supporting research, training, and networking projects conducted by the Center, on our own or in collaboration with other organizations.
1. Supports implementation of the HOPE Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences, including supporting quality assurance and quality improvement work, interacting with survey collaborators and survey contractors to ensure timely transmission of survey data, identifying missing data and implementing data checks, as well as generation of database reports, run charts, and simple statistical analyses.
2. Performs tasks which may require familiarity with data entry and analysis, and with communications skills including maintaining the accuracy of databases tracking compliance with training programs.
3. May perform literature searches either relevant to the project(s), or else in pursuit of new techniques/ideas to expand relevant basic knowledge. These searches may include formal mechanisms for creating systematic reviews. They also may include working with professional librarians.
4. May be responsible for scheduling meetings or study visits, as well as calendar maintenance.
5. May maintain and update records in accordance with IRB and sponsor requirements.
6. Assists with preparation of online learning modules, grant proposals, funding reports, abstracts, presentations, and publications as needed.
7. Delivers presentations as needed.
8. May train other Research Assistants, volunteers, community members, or students.
9. Attends meetings as required.
10. Maintains collaborative, team relationships with internal and external peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the working groups achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment
11. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed


Physical Requirements
:

Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Normal office work environment.

Flexible hybrid work environment, with in-person attendance two days a week.


Skills & Abilities:

1. Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required and the ability to learn new software as needed. Ability to perform data entry, retrieval, and basic analyses in Excel.
2. Knowledge of quality improvement and / or implementation science a plus, but not required.
3. Experience working with diverse teams in multiple sectors and regions of the country a plus, but not required.
4. Knowledge of statistical software a plus, but not required.
5. Ability to prioritize quickly and appropriately.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Care in organization and systematic record-keeping.
8. Comfortable with public speaking, both online and in-person.
