POSITION SUMMARY
The Research Assistant will provide research and organizational support to a growing Research & Knowledge team that is passionate about improving the lives of people with serious mental illness.
Shift: Monday- Friday 9AM - 5PM
Salary: $60K - $62K (nonexempt hourly, paid bi-weekly with overtime eligibility)
Requirements:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct primary & secondary research, such as literature reviews, investigating care delivery models, synthesizing findings.
- Participate in coding of qualitative research.
- Develop internal systems to manage information, such as a knowledge base of key research, project tracking, etc.
- Support implementation of research and data practices in the field.
- Engage in human-centered design.
- Draft and support grant proposals.
- Assist with data cleaning & analysis.
- Perform participatory research methods and training.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong research skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Needs to approach work with a collaborative and flexible mindset.
- Ability to work independently and to conduct assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Creativity in problem solving, related to both research and the development of standardized systems and procedures.
- Ability to efficiently support (limited) administrative needs of the team.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS
- An undergraduate degree, preferably related to public health and/or social sciences required.
- Experience with data systems, qualitative research applications, and statistical programming is a plus.
- Background in, and understanding of, public health, mental health, public policy preferred.
- Experience supporting participatory action research methods.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position resides in a brownstone building in Hell’s Kitchen area and requires the ability to ascend and descend stairs and may include some light lifting, sitting and standing.
- To perform the essential job functions consistently safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
