Project: Discovering novel T cell immunotherapy targets for cancer
Description
The Sharpe laboratory at Harvard Medical School seeks a highly motivated individual to support research that uses mouse perturbation technology for conducting forward genetic screens to discover novel immunotherapy targets for treating cancer. This individual will independently perform and/or coordinate a wide range of laboratory research procedures and conduct a variety of complex support tasks for this project including generation of KO T cells, CRISPR screens, and maintaining transgenic mouse strains. In addition, this individual will independently perform an array of laboratory techniques (including isolation of T cells, lentiviral transduction, multiparameter flow cytometry and molecular approaches such as cloning, CRISPR, DNA isolation), mentored by a senior scientist in the lab. The Sharpe laboratory is a welcoming, fun environment for conducting science and has an extensive track record training and mentoring young scientists.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree required in related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
Skills and Experience: At least 2 years of laboratory experience required. Experience with molecular biology techniques, cell culture, or animals strongly preferred. Ability to maintain careful records of experiments; meticulous work habits with extreme attention to detail; possesses strong organizational, analytical and communication skills; demonstrates experience with multi-tasking and troubleshooting.
Working Conditions: Has the ability to work independently as well as part of a team; demonstrates initiative and is invested in the success of research projects. Must be willing to work with mice. Offer contingent on successful completion of a pre-medical evaluation.
