Rhodium Group is recruiting a Research Analyst to join the company’s China Projects team, a unit of the firm that focuses on long-cycle, primary research activities. The preferred locations are Rhodium Group offices in Washington, DC or New York.
Position DescriptionRhodium Group is looking for an entrepreneurial and talented Research Analyst (Level 1 or Level 2) to join our world-class team of economists, policy and geopolitical analysts, researchers, and data engineers. As a Research Analyst on Rhodium’s China Project’s team, you will support the team’s research and assessments of China’s economy and its global interactions for public and private sector audiences. You will conduct applied research, deepen your advanced economic research skills, contribute to consequential policy debates and decisions, and acquire unique perspectives while working with exceptional colleagues.Position Responsibilities- Support senior staff by carrying out quantitative and qualitative economic research assignments such as data identification, collection, organization, and quality review, as well as data manipulation, analysis, and presentation.
- Help write reports, research notes, and other Rhodium outputs (some public, some private), for both expert and non-specialist audiences.
- Support senior staff by carrying out economic and interdisciplinary policy research, and conducting literature reviews, policy analyses, hypothesis development, and data interpretation related to China’s economy and international economic relations.
- Macroeconomics and political economy: Proven economic analysis talent, and understanding of China’s political, economic, and geopolitical conditions; 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Analytical ability: Demonstrated skill in independently collecting and analyzing data and conducting both quantitative and qualitative economic research.
- Communication: Strong English language writing and presentation skills, for professional audiences.
- Data analysis: Demonstrated proficiency with Excel, and comfort with novel data and research tools; experience with Python/R is advantageous.
- Problem-solving: Proven problem-solving skills and creativity in addressing research and client challenges.
- Organization and teamwork: Time management skills, diligence, reliability, and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
- Language: Advanced Mandarin Chinese reading proficiency.
- The preferred locations for this role are Rhodium Group offices in Washington, DC or New York.
- Occasional domestic or international travel (<10%)

Rhodium Group compensates based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our range may also be determined by factors including, but not limited to, your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as geographic location, performance, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, internal equity, alignment with market data, and business or organizational needs. Typically, a Research Analyst (Level 1 or Level 2) joins at an annualized salary between $88,683 and $93,117, with a 15% bonus target based on a combination of company and individual performance.
