Resaw Operator (Lumber)

We are searching for an experienced lumber sawyer. The purpose of this role is to accurately resaw Elk Creek inventory as indicated on orders produced by the sales and purchasing teams. The goal is to achieve the highest quality of texture on each piece of wood while also maintaining uniformity within those pieces. It is imperative to achieve excellence in this role, as part of Elk Creek’s success is linked to having a strong presence and excellent reputation within the resawn market.

Responsibilities:

• Receive and review orders from Supervisor
• Confirm that stock received from the puller matches the order specifications
• Operates saw according to exact order specifications with a high degree of personal responsibility
• Perform quality inspections on finished products to ensure they meet specifications
• Pulls lumber via forklift in preparation to resaw when necessary
• Paper wraps finished orders as needed
• Uses table to complete resaw report with detailed and accurate information
• Immediately repots any issues with the saw to Supervisor
• Adheres to all safety procedures while operating
• Any other duties assigned by Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Knowledge of lumber and resawn specifications as gained through a minimum of 4 years of related experience
• Experienced and efficient with reading a tape measure
• Efficient in mathematical addition, subtraction, and fractions
• Ability to read and understand Elk Creek sales orders, pull sheets, notes and specifications
• Solid understanding in saw machinery and safety requirements
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment as well as independently
• Ability to operate forklift to complete required tasks and responsibilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
