STORE CASHIER & RECEIVING TEAM ASSOCIATE
Position Summary:
The store cashier & receiving team associate’s primary roles are to assist customers with the store check-out process and help maintain a clean, customer-friendly store, while also participating in receiving, sorting, pricing, and stocking store merchandise. This is a customer facing position; friendly and respectful customer interaction is required. Main duties include ringing up sales, bagging items, collecting payment and sorting incoming donations / merchandise. Responsibilities include proper cash and credit/debit management with a register drawer count at the beginning and end of each cashiering shift. Other duties include receiving donations, sorting and disposing, and pricing.
Schedule:
This is a part time position, about 20 hours / week. Open Monday - Friday 9am - 6pm and Saturday 9am - 2pm. We offer flexible scheduling within those time frames.
Responsibilities:
- Process transactions and ring up customer purchases with a POS system.
- Receive payment by cash, credit/debit cards or vouchers and issue receipts and change due
- Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
- Interact with donors and customers in a pleasant, respectful, and friendly manner.
- Greet customers entering and leaving the store
- Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.
- Resolve customer complaints.
- Answer customers' questions, and provide information on merchandise for sale
- Bag merchandise for customers
- Request information or assistance for carry outs using paging systems.
- Stock shelves and racks, and mark prices on items.
- Assess customer needs and make suggestions on items to purchase.
- Maintain store shelves by observing displays of merchandise; tidying store shelves; providing optimum display of products.
- Maintain inventory by restocking shelves and racks with merchandise;
- Keep sales floor clean and tidy, including rehanging clothing, removing empty hangers, picking up and emptying trash, and vacuuming the carpets.
- Process, sort, and price merchandise within given standards.
- Work with volunteers as needed, including special needs groups.
- Assist with unloading donations in our drive-through donation lane.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Basic Math skills
- Proper transportation to and from each assigned shift.
- Punctuality and Dependability
- Ability to stand walk and move for 4 – 8 hour shifts
- Ability to walk up and down stairs regularly
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. – 30 lbs.
- Previous cashier or retail experience is a plus.
- Ability to pass a background check.
