Philadelphia Yearly Meeting – Communications Designer RFP
About the Organization:
Philadelphia Yearly Meeting (PYM) was founded in 1681 to assist and oversee established and prospective Quaker monthly meetings. It was called the “General Yearly Meeting for Friends of Pennsylvania " in its early years. Today, PYM includes meetings and Friends in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. PYM consists of 10,000 Quakers and over 100 meetings. Find out more at pym.org.
About the Opportunity:
PYM invites proposals from talented part-time communications contractors to join our team, contributing up to 60 hours a month. With a competitive compensation rate ranging from $50-$70 per hour, based on the contractor's skills and rate, we are seeking a Communications Designer to support the production and conception of graphic design projects. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of PYM's visual identity and ensuring alignment with identity standards.
Key Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 3+ years of professional graphic design experience.
- A robust portfolio showcasing proficiency in both print and digital design projects.
- While remote work is feasible, preference will be given to Philadelphia-based designers, considering potential in-office meeting requirements. However, all portfolios will be reviewed and considered, regardless of location.
- Mindfulness of the spiritual dimension of PYM’s work, emphasizing the effective use of print and email materials for communication and community positioning.
Project length:
The contract will span a 6-month term, from 3/21/24 to 9/21/24. Upon contract completion, the role will undergo evaluation with the possibility of extension. Any hours given in a scope of work are an estimate and PYM does not guarantee work every week or a specific number of hours to its contractors.
Scope of work:
The Communications Designer will produce and design communications materials (both print and digital) as assigned by the Director of Communications. These materials will align with the overall PYM communications plan and strategy, potentially integrating within other PYM communications channels. Design projects may include, but are not limited to:
- Logos and event identity
- Postcards and brochures
- Assistance in creating and maintaining a style guide.
- Website mockups, email banners, and social media graphics
- Major print publications (e.g., fundraising appeals, view books)
- Sourcing and designing swag.
