Avidyne's Repair Technicians play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and reliability of Avidyne's sophisticated avionics equipment used in various Part 23, 25, and 27 aircraft. Primary duties involve meticulous inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of advanced avionics, including navigation, communication, and flight control systems. In addition to the technical responsibilities, the Repair Technician also engages in a range of secondary duties that support the broader objectives of Avidyne's manufacturing department. This includes diligent completion of detailed repair and maintenance records, which are essential for compliance with FAA documentation requirements. Lastly, the Repair Technician role extends beyond individual tasks to include mentoring junior technicians, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the team.

Our Repair Technicians' responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting and complying with repair station manuals, technical specifications, and other regulatory documents.
  • Performing product calibration, in-process testing, and final acceptance testing in accordance with FAA regulations and company procedures.
  • Assisting with training of other technicians and new hires.
  • Recording observed defects and returning units to assembly.
  • Completing detailed test and repair records and returning units to production assembly as required.
  • Collaborating with Engineering and other technical teams to implement modifications and improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Applied ability to tune, test, troubleshoot, and repair analog and digital circuit boards to component level.
  • Applied ability using standard electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, pulse generators, and logic analyzers, as well as solder.
  • General ability to diagnose trends and reliability issues, as well as provide detailed analyses.
  • Applied ability reading and interpreting technical documents, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Physical dexterity and ability to work in various environmental conditions.
  • Applied ability and willingness to mentor others and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to successfully identify and resolve complex problems.
  • Ability to maintain a positive outlook with effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work overtime, as needed.
  • Ability to pass a written technician test.

Education & Experience:

  • Technical certification in electronics or at least three years' relevant experience.

Other Desirable Experience:

  • Certification in soldering to IPC-610 standards for surface mount and thru-hold technologies.
  • Prior repair station experience.
  • General knowledge of FAA regulations (FAR).
  • Pilot's license, flight training, or familiarity with general aviation.

The Repair Technician position is considered safety-sensitive and is subject to drug and alcohol testing under the regulations of the Department of Transportation (DOT). This includes pre-employment testing, random testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return-to-duty testing, and follow-up testing. Compliance with these regulations is mandatory for all employees in this role to ensure the safety and security of our operations in accordance with federal and industry standards. By applying for this position, candidates acknowledge and agree to abide by these requirements as a condition of continued employment.
