PenFed is hiring a (Remote) Director, Credit Risk Management associated with our McLean, Virgina or San Antonio, Texas offices. The primary purpose of this position is to play a critical role in enhancing Credit Risk data management ecosystem and reporting to enable sustainable and resilient Consumer business growth. This position will also promote long-term Credit Risk Management strategic vision, promoting strong risk culture and manage data processes and information quality.

  • Work with the Chief Credit Officer and other risk leaders to identify high value analytics and key performance indicators for the organization.
  • Work directly with key risk leaders to develop key KPI's and portfolio level dashboards.
  • Manage, mentor, train and develop risk data and analytic resources.
  • Track analytics action items, issues, and priorities for the Chief Credit Office.
  • Evaluate all data source systems for field quality, usefulness, consistency, historical accuracy, documentation, and differential between systems for same field.
  • Evaluate database solutions in building a comprehensive Credit Risk database.
  • Lead on-going evaluation of analytical tools for best accessing data and processing.
  • Automate and maintain standard reporting or productionalize reports which provide key information to risk analysts and management.
  • Collaborate with Credit Risk Teams on data needs and data sources to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the departments.
  • Work with external vendors on data transfer needs between PenFed Credit Union and the vendors for CECL/Stress Testing & LossForecasting/Ad Hoc analysis.

Qualifications
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Database Management, Quantitative Discipline or Equivalent required. MBA or Master's Degree in the related field is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in credit strategy, credit policy & analysis or Credit Risk Management in financial services industry.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' of direct management experience.
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years' of database management experience and 7+ years experience in Financial Services is preferred.
  • Demonstrate ability to improve data flow, data integrity, processes, automation reports, data capture, external sourcing, and data transfers between sources.
  • Strong skills in various database tools including Sequal, SQL, Hadoop, Snowflake, and Data Lake environments are required. Proficiency with statistical tools (SAS, R, Python) is preferred.
  • Experience in building support to gain acceptance and buy-in on credit decisions in a collaborative environment. Ability to provide business leadership and partnering skills to help drive the organization towards critical decisions and deliverable results.
  • Ability to exhibit sound judgment in decision making and be an inclusive and collaborative partner with Credit Risk Management.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Demonstrate strong clear thinking and succinct delivery of message. Ability to explain complex topics simply to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Self-motivated and strong interpersonal skills in order to actively lead and implement ideas in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Proven project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

Travel
Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
Compensation Information
  • The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $130,787 - $216,189
  • This position is eligible for the organization's annual Balanced Scorecard bonus subject to board discretion and approval
  • This position is also eligible for the opportunity for an annual Pay for Performance bonus
