Remote Coding Auditor - Health Information Management
About the Role:
Join our forward-thinking Health Information Management team as a Remote Coding Auditor and play a pivotal role in enhancing our coding quality and efficiency. This position demands a meticulous and seasoned professional capable of coordinating and auditing our coding staff's work for compliance with established coding and documentation standards. Your expertise will ensure accurate reimbursement and adherence to quality coding practices, all within the framework of strict confidentiality and professionalism.
What You Will Do:
- Conduct thorough audits of coded information from medical records and provider documentation to ensure timely billing and compliance.
- Collaborate with Coding Leadership to report audit findings, contributing to continuous improvement.
- Engage in the appeal process for insurance denials, aiming for prompt and accurate reimbursement.
- Apply AHA Official Coding Guidelines to support accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures.
- Commit to ongoing education to remain current on ICD-10 coding guidelines, HIM Coding policies, and regulatory updates.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of coding conventions, ICD-10-CM coding as per CMS guidelines, and a solid grasp of medical terminology, anatomy, and disease pathology.
- Proven track record with 10+ years in healthcare coding and at least 2 years in auditing, covering all patient types and facility compliance requirements.
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management (preferred).
- Current certification from AAPC, AHIMA, or equivalent coding credential (excluding apprenticeship classification).
- Proficient computer skills for completing job-specific tasks and continuous learning.
