Maritime Reliability Engineer Manager
Location: Long Beach, CA (On-Site)
Salary: $95,000 - $115,000 Annually
JOB SUMMARY
Our recruiting agency is recruiting for an experience Reliability Engineer Manager will provides leadership and direction for the safe, reliable and cost-effective performance of container terminal equipment. Manages risk to achieve strategic objectives in the areas of environmental health and safety, asset capability, quality, and productivity. The role will be built upon the use of solid engineering fundamentals and continuous improvement to support Operations, Maintenance, and IT departments to obtain maximum performance from assets and equipment with minimized downtime and costs.
NATURE AND SCOPE
It is essential that the incumbent be knowledgeable of equipment technology, terminology, various equipment types and repair techniques, all of which must conform to applicable standards. This knowledge also allows the incumbent to assist with the management of parts, materials and supplies inventory, purchasing, cost accounting, and preparation of reports and applicable documentation.
· Incumbent provides direction to the maintenance technicians, works closely with business managers for the preparation of equipment maintenance and energy budgets, and sets priorities for maintenance of equipment and approves equipment maintenance expenditure within budget and authority limit.
· The incumbent builds up a preventive and predictive maintenance schedule with detailed work instructions for all equipment to reduce damages and downtime on all machinery and maintains inventory to ensure that inventory levels are minimized while still ensuring that necessary and anticipated spare parts are always immediately available.
· The incumbent proactively undertakes maintenance planning for corrective work, maintains up-to-date information and knowledge on equipment, improves and modifies equipment design, in order to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, or life cycle cost.
Job Qualifications
- A university degree in electrical/electronic, mechanical ,or mechatronic engineering or related field. With some post qualification experience or significant practical experience advancing career from a relevant craft through to supervisor or management position (5+ years technical experience, 2+ years management experience).
- Additional studies in asset management, business or related is considered an advantage.
- Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals applicable to container handling equipment.
- Practical knowledge of general safety, health and environmental issues .
- Advanced Proficiency and Computer skills for MS Office suite.
- Ability to work outdoors, at height, in confined/restricted spaces and out of normal hours.
- Ability to occasionally travel domestically and/or internationally.
- Experience within a demanding 24/7 work environment.
- Cost consciousness when making decisions.
- Experience and training specifically related to container handling equipment.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Advanced Proficiency and Computer skills for SQL, Visual Basic and other database systems or programming language.
- Knowledge and experience with best practice asset management methodologies including Preventative and Predictive Maintenance, 5S, LEAN, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Vibration Analysis, Thermography, Tribology etc.
- Good mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical equipment and systems.
- Understanding of basic electrical engineering principles including control circuits and programmable controllers.
- Ability to understand and work from mechanical drawings and electrical drawing/schematics.
- Experienced with overhead cranes, hoists, monorails, elevators or similar equipment.
- Exposure to steel structure design and maintenance preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of hoist systems and components including reducers, brakes, couplings, and wire rope.
- Working knowledge of good lubrication practices
- Working knowledge of hydraulic systems
- Working knowledge of diesel engines and powertrain systems an advantage
- Exposure to a range of PLC and drive equipment (AC / DC) from various manufacturers
- Exposure to MV equipment and switch gear
