JOB DESCRIPTION
Your Role

The Information Technology Developer Experience: Delivery Pipeline Management and ART Services team drives our organization’s adoption of Scaled Agile Value Streams Model. The Release Train Engineer, Principal will report to the Director of Delivery Pipeline Management. In this role, you will guide the Agile Release Trains and collaborate with multiple cross-functional stakeholders toward successful solutions delivery. Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Support and Coach
  • Be responsible for leading successful delivery of complex initiatives, programs and value streams across multiple teams' business units and functions by coaching the Agile Release Train (ART).
  • Plan, orchestrate, and support Program Increment (PI) planning events to establish PI objectives, key results, and dependencies; and to set/refine the ART’s backlog.
  • Facilitate periodic synchronization ceremonies/events (e.g., ART Sync) and demos to integrate inter-dependent work design, development, testing, and release.
  • Ensure a smooth flow of value by facilitating value stream mapping, establishing Agile Release Train (ART) flow measures, and reducing or eliminating cross-team dependencies.
  • Leads and manages the writing of Epics, Lean Business Cases, and program-level artifacts

QUALIFICATIONS
Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field, or equivalent experience and 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Requires 7-10 years of experience in IT and 3+ years of experience as a RTE, Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Agile Project/Program Manager in demonstrating and orchestrating work for complex initiatives and programs.
  • Requires Scaled Agile (SAFe) Framework certification(s): SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE), SAFe Scrum Master (SM) certification.
  • Proven ability to coach, influence, and mentor people and processes; and experience in managing budgets, task delegation, and performance measurement.
  • Demonstrated leadership, including creating an environment for collaboration, mutual learning, empathy, and inclusion.
  • Experience in product development, value stream/journey mapping, design thinking, and related techniques.
  • Preferred demonstrated success in managing cross-functional teams and teams of teams and experience in leading and coaching successful product delivery teams.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 145970.00 to $ 218900.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.

Physical Requirements:

Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Due to the current public health emergency in California, Blue Shield employees are almost all working remotely. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork - Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
