As a result of our continued growth, we are seeking an outstanding individual to fill the requirements of a Release Manager and Program Facilitator. The responsibilities of each individual position may not necessitate full-time hours on their own, but when combined, they constitute a full-time workload.

This role is located in our Pittsburgh, PA office, hybrid working model. (2 days a week onsite)

Key Responsibilities
Release manager - A Software Release Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful planning, coordination, and execution of software releases. Their responsibilities involve overseeing the entire release process, from initial planning to deployment and post-release activities. A successful Software Release Manager needs to be detail-oriented, have excellent communication skills, and be adept at coordinating efforts across multiple teams. They play a critical role in ensuring that software releases meet quality standards, are delivered on time, and align with organizational goals. Here are some key responsibilities of a Software Release Manager.
  • Release Planning – Collaborate with development teams, quality assurance, product managers, documentation, and other stakeholders to plan software releases.
  • Risk Management – Identify potential risks and issues that may impact the release schedule and work with teams to mitigate these risks.
  • Coordination and Communication - Facilitate communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams involved in the release process.
  • Quality Assurance – Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure that all necessary testing, including regression testing, is completed successfully before the release.
  • Deployment Coordination – Collaborate with the TechOps team to coordinate the deployment of software releases to production environments.
  • Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities to improve the release process, including improving documentation and identifying opportunities for automation, and efficiency.
 
Program Facilitator – A Program Facilitator role involves facilitating communication and interactions between development teams and leadership is often crucial for the success of software development projects. This kind of role requires strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of both technical and business aspects of the project, and the ability to navigate and communicate effectively with various stakeholders. Here are some key responsibilities of a Program Facilitator.
  • Communication Facilitation- Act as a bridge between development teams and leadership, ensuring clear and effective communication. Regularly communicate project status, progress, and any impediments to both the development team and leadership.
  • Reporting and Dashboard Development - Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting needs at different organizational levels and work with them to generate reports and dashboards.
  • Risk & Issue Management - Work with stakeholders to ensure the risk and issue logs are kept updated by reflecting Risk Mitigation plans and Issue controls.
  • Team Support - Advocate for the team's resource needs and ensure they have the necessary tools and support to meet project objectives.
  • Problem Solving and Task Ownership - Demonstrate flexibility by taking on tasks that may fall outside the traditional scope of roles, filling in gaps to ensure the smooth progress of the project.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a similar role 
  • Technical Skills:
    • Experience with tooling such as Jira, Confluence, and Aha
    • Experience in MS Office suite, specifically Excel and Word
  • Communication Skills - Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information between development teams and leadership.  Able to effectively chair meetings
  • Problem-Solving Skills - Proven ability to identify challenges, propose solutions, and address issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Adaptability - Flexibility to handle evolving priorities, changing project requirements, and unexpected challenges
  • Project Planning and Coordination - Experience in planning and coordinating project activities, ensuring alignment with goals and timelines
  • Understanding of Software Development - A basic understanding of software development processes, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Stakeholder Management - Ability to engage and manage relationships with stakeholders at different levels of the organization.
  • Reporting and Documentation - Proficiency in creating and maintaining project documentation, including reports and dashboards for various organizational levels.
  • Risk Management - Skill in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that may impact project timelines or deliverables
  • Decision-Making Skills - Sound decision-making skills, including the ability to make informed decisions and escalate when necessary.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset - A mindset geared towards continuous improvement, actively seeking opportunities to enhance processes and efficiency.
  • Positive Team Culture Advocate - An advocate for fostering a positive team culture, promoting collaboration, and addressing conflicts constructively.
