Actively participates in initiatives across all areas of the finance function and executes on key deliverables to meet company objectives. This role will primarily be responsible for Reinsurance Operations and support of the reinsurance administration. Other responsibilities include, preparing accounting and financial data and performing reconciliations of general ledger and sub-ledgers, in support of financial reporting and operational objectives. Able to independently research and document reinsurance information, identify issues and see them through to resolution. Works closely with all areas within Corporate Finance and with other company functions as assignments require.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Administers life and annuity reinsurance agreements in accordance with Treaty parameters subject to weekly, monthly and quarterly deadlines
- Process reinsurance reports and performs ongoing review of reinsurance data
- Develops and updates operating procedures for reinsurance to ensure processes are accurate, repeatable and efficient
- Actively supports monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles.
- Records journal entries, analyzes data, and runs queries within the GL, TAI, AP, Treasury, administration systems, and related databases
- Ensures company payments and cash management processes are timely and accurate
- Prepares account reconciliations and certifies to the accuracy and completeness of financial information
- Test and implement changes to TAI
- Work assignments may range across finance functions including reinsurance administration, accounts payable, financial reporting, operations accounting, treasury, strategic planning, and internal audit to support finance operations and understand/improve processes
- Duties may range across Nassau corporate finance, Reinsurance Operations and accounting and/or work within targeted functions, with potential for cross-training and rotation
- Supports finance initiatives, special projects and sees tasks through to completion
- Interacts with other areas of the company in finance role
- Communicate with reinsurers and vendors
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree required, preferred major in Math, Finance or Business
- 2-4 years of related reinsurance, operations, or finance experience
- Experience in or familiarity with the insurance industry preferred
- Proven ability to work independently and learn quickly
- Team player with the ability to work independently in fast-paced dynamic environment
- Sound judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Solid time management skills and multi-tasking abilities
- Analytical skills with ability to synthesize and summarize data
- Strong technology skills and use of various applications/software (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office)
- PeopleSoft, TAI and SQL experience a plus
