POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of a licensed practitioner, the Rehabilitation Technician assists Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistants, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, and students in all aspects of physical and occupational treatment in order to maximize each patient’s functional ability.
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in orientation of other Rehabilitation Technicians.
- Transfers and transports patients in a safe and timely manner.
- Assists therapists with direct patient care relative to patient’s age, culture, and condition.
- Communicates verbally and in written form with therapists, assistants, students, and other techs to maintain efficient workflow.
- Disinfects and sterilizes equipment after each patient use.
- Maintains clean working environment.
- Tracks, receives, distributes, and restocks supplies.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Provides quality patient care and maintains a professional relationship with patients and families.
- Files notes, picks up charts from medical records, sends notes to medical records, answers telephone, and performs departmental copying.
- Adheres to infection control policies and procedures.
- Assists nursing staff with getting patients out of bed as required.
- Seeks out other employees to offer assistance when their own duties are completed.
- Maintains the rehabilitation department, storage area, and supply areas in an orderly manner.
- Updates boards in patient rooms to reflect transfer, ambulation and ADL status as required.
- Checks with nursing staff before treating patient to ensure medical stability of patient.
- Gives report to nursing staff regarding patient performance with rehabilitation session if needed.
- Gives report to licensed therapist regarding patient performance with rehabilitation session.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Checks hydroculator temperature and records on a daily basis. Reports any deviations in temperature outside of acceptable range to Director of Rehabilitation.
- Cleans hydroculator on a monthly basis.
- Carries out CARE program as assigned by therapists and communicates with all therapists (OT, PT, SLP) regarding patients status that are on CARE.
- Completes documentation on CARE patients after each visit.
- Totals and turns in daily therapy charges.
- Removes broken equipment for repair.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Minimum of High School degree or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
- Prefer one (1) year experience in an acute care or rehabilitation setting.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- Must be certified in AHA BLS and Nexus approved Behavioral Intervention Training
- Must maintain current certification in good standing during employment with this facility, or obtain within 30 days.
