Job Description
Job Summary:
Reporting to the VP of Regulatory Compliance, the Regulatory Compliance Manager will closely work with the VP to ensure the compliance of all Property and Casualty products (admitted and surplus) offered by Crum & Forster. Responsibilities include overseeing the review, analysis, monitoring and distribution of insurance bulletins, legislation, regulations, and executive orders. As well, the position is responsible for mentoring and supervising lower level staff to grow their skills and oversee their daily activities. It is further anticipated that this role will work closely with the insurance product managers, division management and other staff to develop and implement plans to keep the company in compliance in all relevant jurisdictions. This position is open to work from home, with strong preference for East Coast or Midwest location.
What you will do:
  • Establish relationships with the various business division leaders to foster teamwork.
  • Review and assess regulatory developments communicated from state insurance departments, trade associations, third party legal resources, ISO, NCCI or independent WC Bureaus.
  • Communicate regulatory changes and developments to applicable senior management and field staff in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with and respond to inquiries from state insurance departments or other regulatory agencies, as required.
  • Ability to interact with senior management and effectively deliver important messages and changes.
  • Supervision and development of Regulatory Compliance staff.
  • Respond to compliance-related requests and inquiries from business divisions.
  • Research and document compliance issues, and provide responses to business divisions.
  • Document and provide input on compliance with new products and procedures.
  • Review, monitor and communicate changes required to underwriting and operations procedures by working with the Product Management teams, Underwriting and Operations of business divisions to make the necessary changes to the current procedures and potential changes to products.
  • Assist in market conduct examinations, audits and targeted regulatory examinations.
  • Perform other related duties, including short or long-term projects, as assigned.

What you will bring to C&F:
  • Bachelor's Degree required. Legal (including paralegal) experience welcome.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience required.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Prior property/casualty Regulatory Compliance experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory and compliance aspects of the insurance industry and state regulation.
  • Willing to accept new responsibilities, assignments and adapt to change.
  • Detail-oriented with high degree of accuracy and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong research, decision-making and analytical skills.
  • Ability to break down complex information and convey it in easily understood messages based on audience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent judgement and discretion required to interpret and apply regulatory guidelines, company policies and procedures.
