Registered Nurse (Inpatient Unit) - Night Shift
Summary
Directly responsible for patient care and the provision of a safe, comfortable and efficient environment for patients within the inpatient clinical environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inpatient Floor:
Perform initial admission and/or shift assessment.
· Perform assessments as necessary with change in patient condition.
· Verify completion of post-operative testing.
· Verify understanding of surgeon-specific post-operative orders.
· Report unexpected clinical findings or any deviation from the norm.
· Performs post-operative teaching to patient/significant other/family
· Develop an inpatient plan of care.
· Assess patient’s baseline and nutritional status.
· Review chart.
· Verifies/Identifies patient ID, patient allergies and patient belongings
· Establish (if necessary)/maintains intravenous line.
· Administer medication if prescribed.
· Take measures to ensure patient comfort.
· Provide psychological support to patient.
· Communicate patient’s emotional status to other appropriate members of the health care team.
· Monitor surgical site and dressing for abnormal signs.
· Handles/changes surgical site dressings using aseptic technique.
· Assist physician as directed.
· Coordinate planned nursing care with other health care team members to facilitate patient flow process.
· Terminal cleaning between patients in the absence of housekeeping.
· Provide nursing support in other areas as needed.
Education and/or Experience
· Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
· Minimum of 1 - 2 years medical nursing.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
Current BLS and ACLS certificates required.
Other Skills and Abilities
Comprehensive and current knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
Thorough knowledge of and ability to implement principles of aseptic technique.
Knowledge of surgical procedures, techniques and consequent nursing interventions.
Able to recognize emergency situations and assist in corrective action.
Knowledge of the policies, procedures, philosophies, goals and objectives of ambulatory surgery.
Recognize and report hazardous equipment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
