Job Summary

This position is designated a full-time and primarily Evening Shift. The work schedule will include at least 80 hours per 2-week pay period and may include additional work hours, based on business needs. The position is eligible for the full employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.

As a Registered Nurse for MVH-Minneapolis, you will provide professional Registered Nurse services in a long-term care, skilled care facility. These positions assess the needs of the residents, suggest appropriate nursing interventions, implement orders and routines, and deliver skilled nursing care. This position may also coordinate, delegate, and review work of other nursing staff members.

The Minneapolis Home is located on Minnehaha Avenue, which has connecting highways and public transportation options for an easy commute. The beautiful 53-acre wooded campus includes mature oaks and pines, nature trails and biking paths overlooking the Mississippi River.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume/application clearly describes your experience in the areas listed below and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.

  • Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions.
  • Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques sufficient to provide effective nursing care for residents.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Effective communication skills sufficient to provide and follow instructions.
  • Computer experience sufficient to complete electronic charting and use basic computer functions such as email.
  • Ability to make decisions within the scope of nursing responsibilities.
  • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided by other staff, make, or recommend changes, and provide mentoring.
  • Ability to teach self-help skills to residents.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a skilled nursing facility.
  • Long-term care experience.
  • Geriatric care experience.
  • Experience with MDS assessments.

Additional Requirements

This position requires successful completion of the following:

  • Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s). When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.

  • A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
  • Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance and contact with the applicant's former employer(s).
