Job Summary
- The Department of Nursing at Avera McKennan requires all nurses to practice at a competent level of nursing care and demonstrate a competent and professional level of behavior in his/her role as a RN. The American Nurses Associations (ANA) scope and standards of practice are exemplified within the position description. The Registered Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide nursing care for the patient. He/she assumes responsibility and accountability for his/her individual actions and outcomes of patient care delivered on his/her shift. Additionally, the Clinical Nurse Educator serves as the primary resource for clinical skills and expert knowledge to nursing staff. He/she is a key player in developing and implementing competencies and orientating new staff members. He/she assists with the multidisciplinary approach to achieve excellence and continuity of patient care with defined emphasis on formal and informal staff education and patient/family teaching.
Education and/or Experience
- Graduate from a CCNE or NLN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in nursing required.
- Two to three years of subspecialty care experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota and/or meeting the requirements of multi-state licensure required.
- Strongly encouraged to complete life-saving education specific to specialty area.
- Membership in professional organization preferred.
- Certified in specialty area of nursing practice required within 12 months of hire.
Work Schedule
- Monday-Friday
- 72 hours per 2 weeks
Pay
The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
- $32.75 - $48.50 per hour
