Job description

Position Summary:Responsible for medically assessing clients upon intake in the agency office. Special level of skill required for the treatment and care of substance use disorder clients. Part of this position will be to evaluate the needs of potential and current clients as well as administer treatments and therapies under the direction of Agency Physician or Psychiatrists.

Qualifications: Must have a Registered Nurse certification. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and current automobile insurance. Must pass a criminal record check (more than 5 years) and a Sex Offender Registry and provide proof of a current TB skin test.

Skill Sets: Must be reliable and dependable. Demonstrate good oral and written communications. Maintain a supportive and encouraging working relationship with supervisor, leaders and clients. Clinical skills, infection control, nursing skills, physiological knowledge, administering medication, medical teamwork, multi-tasking, listening, verbal communication, health promotion and maintenance. Must have basic computer skills, communication skills and demonstrate a non-judgmental and non-bias disposition regarding clients. Must be able to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.

Physical and Environmental Demands: Visual acuity and manual dexterity needed for required paperwork. Frequent talking and hearing when communicating with leaders, families, and other service providers. Work is light with walking, standing, and occasional stooping. Possible exposure to communicable diseases during contact with individuals released from various locations i.e. jail, hospitals, unsanitary conditions, rehabilitations centers, etc.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Able to provide quality customer service to personnel, persons served, families and stakeholders.

2. Helps maintain the health safety and welfare of personnel, person served and stakeholders.

3. Ensure that state and federal licensure and regulations are being adhered to.

4. Maintain current licensure and certifications.

5. Provide medical and medication assessment with clients.

6. Identifies client care requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual clients

7. Promotes client’s independence by establishing client care goals; teaching client to understand condition, medications and self-care skills, answering questions.

8. Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against client care goals and standards, making or recommending necessary adjustments; following agency and nursing division’s philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nursing practice act and other governing agency regulations.

9. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and rules and regulations.

10. Protects clients and personnel by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.

11. Document client care services by charting client and department records.

12. Schedule clients to see the Physician and Psychiatrist.

13. Ensures and maintains client confidentiality and adheres to HIPPA regulations.

14. Medical administration record, disposal of discontinued medications and training of non-license personnel in medication administration.

15. Provides feedback and education to all clients in collaboration with management team.

16. On-call responsibilities.

17. Provide medication training to Substance Abuse Technicians and Peer Support Specialist on the assisting the clients with their medications.

18. Physician, Psychiatrist and Pharmacy Liaison.

19. Completes phone screenings.

20. Assist with Health and Safety policy development and implementation.

21. Other duties as assigned

Pay: $23.00 - $31.00 per hour
