Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist oral surgeons during various surgical procedures, ensuring efficient and safe operations.
- Start IV’s, administer IV medications, record dispensed medications.
- Measure, monitor and record vital signs, medications, and treatment of patient.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care to patients, including patient education and comfort.
- Respond to emergency situations with competence and composure.
- Review charts/health histories prior to doctor seeing patient, complete appropriate paperwork.
- Provide continuity of patient care by communicating with other patient care personnel and documenting records appropriately.
- Answer triage calls and post-operative questions as able at your level of ability.
- Oversee/perform weekly inspections of crash cart.
- Maintain clinic logs of drug counts and medications dispensed.
- Draw and label medications for use in procedures.
- Monitor medications/supplies weekly for expiration.
- Adhere to OSHA, HIPPA, and all office policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities.
- Maintain and promote professional competence through continuing education and other learning experiences.
- Accurately comprehend, interpret and document verbal orders and direction.
- Objectively evaluate suggestions or criticisms and attempt to improve.
- Participate in on-call rotation.
- Other duties as directed by the surgeons and/or administrator.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in nursing; bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Current state licensure.
- CPR certification.
- ACLS and PALS Certification.
- Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification (DAANCE) or obtained within 1 year of hire date.
- Excellent communication and teamwork.
- Proficient in using computers and electronic medical records (EMR).
Experience
- Nursing: 1 year
- Experience in an oral surgery or fast-paced surgical setting preferred.
