Registered Nurse (Prn)

PRN hours available covering our Downtown Columbia, Northeast Columbia, and other SC area clinics. .
This PRN care team member will be required to engage a minimum of 6 shifts per quarter (every 3 months) to keep their PRN employment status with PMD.
JOB SUMMARY
The mission of the PRN Registered Nurse (RN) is to support and oversee all Health Center operations and ensure the provision of excellent care to all patients. As directed by State Scope of Practice, the Provider, and the Clinical Operations Manager, the Registered Nurse assists the Provider and works with other members of the care team to serve as a frontline representative of and deliver on the PMD patient promise. The PRN RN works on an as-needed basis, filling in for regular staff during their absence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completes patient assessments, including vital signs and pre-examination procedures with appropriate medical equipment
• Prepare patients to be seen by the provider through interview/intake, review of medical history, vital sign assessment, and necessary patient visit details
• Documents objective and subjective data and assessments in the patient's EMR
• Perform tests ordered by the provider including laboratory tests, injections, EKGs, Spirometry, inhalation treatments, annual physicals, visual screening, audiometry testing, and CLIA-Waived testing
• Provides patient health counseling and instruction, including meeting with families and caregivers
• Completes medication reconciliation, management, patient compliance, inventory, education
• Ensures regulatory compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA guidelines
• Provides excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, and caregivers
• The position may include triage of calls for urgent appointments, referrals for patient consults and testing, insurance pre-certification, and documentation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Required:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• An active and in good standing Registered Nurse license in the state of South Carolina
• An active BLS certification
• 2+ year of clinical nursing experience

Preferred:

• Compact State Nursing License
• Proficient in phlebotomy and lab specimen processing, or a willingness to learn
• Exceptional Customer Service skills
• Knowledge of electronic medical records.
