Job Title:Registered Nurse - Post Anesthesia Care Unit

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures. As a vital member of the perioperative team, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and effective transition of patients from the operating room to the recovery phase, monitoring their post-anesthetic recovery and facilitating their discharge.
Responsibilities:
Post-Anesthesia Monitoring: Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia, assessing vital signs, pain levels, and overall condition. Implement and manage post-operative care plans, adjusting interventions as needed.
Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' post-surgical conditions, identifying any signs of complications or adverse reactions to anesthesia. Collaborate with anesthesia providers and surgeons to ensure a smooth transition from the operating room to the PACU.
Pain Management: Administer pain medications and other prescribed interventions to manage post-operative pain effectively. Advocate for and ensure patients' comfort and well-being during the recovery process.
Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients' needs and concerns, addressing any issues related to their recovery and coordinating with the healthcare team to provide optimal care.
Communication: Effectively communicate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and facilitate a seamless recovery process.
Patient and Family Education: Provide thorough post-operative instructions to patients and their families, addressing concerns and ensuring they are well-informed about the recovery process.
Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and the overall efficiency of the PACU.
Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies, including but not limited to airway management and cardiac events, and initiate appropriate interventions as needed.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid nursing license in CA.
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in Nursing (BSN/ASN) from an accredited nursing program.
- CPR and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience in post-Anesthesia Care or critical care nursing is preferred.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
