Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse with a specialized focus on oncology to join our healthcare team. As a Registered Nurse in the Oncology department, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive care and support to patients diagnosed with various forms of cancer. Your expertise will contribute to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care throughout the cancer care continuum, from diagnosis and treatment to survivorship and palliative care.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Provide direct patient care, assess patients' physical and emotional needs, and develop individualized care plans based on the oncology treatment protocols and patient preferences.
- Treatment Administration: Administer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and other specialized oncology treatments as prescribed by the oncologist, ensuring accurate dosing and monitoring for potential side effects.
- Symptom Management: Monitor and manage patients' symptoms, including pain, nausea, fatigue, and other treatment-related side effects. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about their cancer diagnosis, treatment options, potential side effects, and self-care strategies. Provide emotional support and guidance throughout the treatment journey.
- Care Coordination: Collaborate with oncologist, surgeons, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination of care, timely treatment interventions, and accurate documentation.
- Supportive Care: Offer emotional support to patients and their families, helping them navigate the challenges of cancer treatment, prognosis, and end-of-life care.
- Palliative and End-of-Life Care: Provide compassionate care to patients in advanced stages of cancer, focusing on symptom management, pain relief, and emotional support.
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with a significant portion in oncology or a related field.
- Strong understanding of cancer treatments, therapies, and side effects.
- Proficiency in administering chemotherapy and managing related complications.
- Empathetic and compassionate approach to patient care, with the ability to address emotional and psychological needs.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for accurate documentation and care planning.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing healthcare environments.
