Job Description
This part-time position will be truly part-time, requiring about 8 hours of work per month or 12-24 hours per quarter. This can be completed on weekends or weekdays. Perfect side job for a RN looking for some additional income.
Primary function will be as a RN Consultant for a Mental Health Residential Care Facility located in Eufaula. This includes quarterly review of MAR and other paperwork, Qrtly SOAP assessment of residents, phlebotomy blood draws for labs, medication injections and medical consultant for the staff. The Field Nurse will assist the facility staff to destroy discontinued or expired medication. The Field Nurse may also travel with pharmacy staff to mental health clinics all over Oklahoma. At these these clinics they will obtain vitals, enter notes into electronic health record, administer injections, document dosages etc. This position requires travel. (Paid travel time).
Available via phone for facility to ask professional medical questions of the Consultant RN.
Coordinate care with physician and PA to ensure staff are giving appropriate ongoing medical care for residents of the facility.
Shift And Hours
- Part Time
- At the discretion of the company and upon company needs.
- Schedules, flexible with your personal schedule as long as quarterly activities are completed on time.
- Travel to LTC facility required. Company car provided for required travel. Travel for current business would include travel from OKC to Eufaula facility at least 1 day a month and possibly more. If the candidate is located outside of OKC area, they may use their personal vehicle for travel to the facility and would be eligible for mileage payment on approved travel.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Obtain Vital Signs
- Enter vitals, medication dosages, and notes into electronic health record
- Collecting urine and blood samples for labs.
- Properly filling out lab requisition forms if needed.
- Administer Injections
- Conducting Long term care facility medication review (SOAP)
- Completing regular AIMS scores for residents.
- Ensuring proper medication dispensing/ destruction/ tracking
- Ensuring facility staff is following proper procedures
Skills
- Relevant skills and knowledge of an RN.
- Ability to resolve problems and successfully implement resolutions.
- Ability to work well in a team environment to ensure quality patient care.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good computer skills and typing ability.
- Ability to work effectively in stressful situations.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- One (1) year of relevant experience.
- Possession of a valid license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS certification.
- Pre - employment background and driving record check
- Pre- employment drug screen
- Must know, understand and follow HIPPA regulations
- Ability to work agreed upon schedule
- Must be punctual and dependable for assigned shifts
- Good driving record and valid driver's license in good standing
Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to drive to locations
Work Environment
- This position frequently involves a fast work pace in a clinical setting. Must be able to handle multiple tasks daily.
- Working in a Residential Care facility houses mental/behavioral health patients as RN Consultant.
