Overview

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Fallsway Nurse Manager directly supervises nurses within the Adult Medical Clinic at the 421 Fallsway location and provides clinical supervision to all nurses working in primary care clinics and in the Housing Services Department. The Fallsway Nursing Manager is also a resource for non-RN managers who supervise a nurse. This position also functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary health care team, providing the highest quality of care to clients in accordance with the duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse position.


Key Role Responsibilities

· Supervises nurses in the Fallsway Adult Medical (4-6 nurses). Sets clear expectations, sets schedules, monitors outcomes, creates a culture of open communication and helps the team to solve complex problems through individual supervision.

· Provides clinical supervision for nurses who work in pediatric/family primary care clinics and Supportive Housing across the agency (4-6 nurses). Ensures nurse orientation, training and timely compliance with competencies, licensure and agency policies and procedures.

· In coordination with the Director of Nursing and Practice Managers, identifies, develops, and maintains competency and clinical training materials and resources for medical assistants and nurses, ensuring competency completion for both throughout the employee lifecycle and across the agency,

Ensures documentation is complete in partnership with the agencywide Training Coordinator.

· Assists the Director of Nursing in improving clinic processes, workflows, and staffing patterns to support clinical, practice operations, racial equity & inclusion and safety goals. Partners closely with medical leadership, practice operations, quality, and compliance to ensure quality client care is rendered and smooth clinic operations are achieved.

· Manages Fallsway medical supply procurement and inventory control and ensures proper maintenance of clinic equipment in partnership with Director of Nursing and Facilities Team.

· Maintain clinical and regulatory standards, fostering and enforcing compliance with applicable agency and/or site guidelines, as well as government and regulatory policies and procedures, including OSHA, ADA, CLIA, HIPAA, HRSA, TJC and NCQA. Follows agency procedures to report legal, privacy and environment of care issues.

· Obtains and shares up-to-date information from scientific and practice literature and other resources to improve quality of care.

· Performs all duties of the Registered Nurse position as needed. Does not have a mandatory weekly clinical requirement.

· Completes documentation of services in a legible manner in accordance with established formats and required timeframes within the client electronic health record.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills


Formal Education and Training


· Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland

· BSN required

· BLS CPR certification required



Experience


· Three years of clinical experience as an RN required

· One year of supervisory experience preferred

· Two years in a community health center or primary care setting as an RN required

· Experience working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary clinical setting is preferred

· Experience providing direct care to an underserved population highly preferred

· Strong interpersonal skills to interact and maintain relationships with a wide range of personalities

· Commitment to self-assessment, as well as giving and receiving constructive feedback

· Demonstrated efficiency, organization and good judgment in the use of one’s time and the time of others

· Strong written and verbal communication skills
