Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking experienced Labor & Delivery and Postpartum RNs for our state-of-the-art Birth Center, located on the Virginia Mason Seattle campus. The 20,000 square-foot birth center is located at the Floyd & Delores Jones Pavilion on Seattle's First Hill neighborhood. Located on the 16th floor, the facility offers panoramic views of the city, the mountains and Puget Sound. The new Birth Center will include: - 10 postpartum beds; 5 Labor and delivery rooms; 2 OB triage rooms, 2 ORs, and 3 Level II Nursery Beds; plus options for patients to access labor tubs in each room, and have a water birth - Family provided doulas will be welcome and the unit will accommodate presence of siblings. In this position you will be responsible for serving as the primary Registered Nurse delivering care to women who are admitted to the Family Birth Center. This patient population may include low-risk and high-risk pregnancies.

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: 

Conducts Maternal-Fetal Assessment. 

Provides nursing support to the laboring patients, utilizing pharmacological and non-pharmacological pain management. - Provides stabilization and transition of the normal newborn at delivery. 

Circulates for Cesarean Sections.  Cares for the post-surgical patient. Assists the anesthesiologist with insertion of an epidural and provides care to the patient with regional anesthesia.  Provides care to the High-Risk maternity patient.

We require: 

Current WA State RN license is required. - 1 or more years recent RN experience with acute care patients. - CPR certification is required every two years or as specified by the work. - Other certifications may be required for specialty areas. - Graduation from an accredited school of nursing approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
