Under the direct supervision of the Operational Manager and the Regional Leadership Team, the Registered Nurse (Health Department Manager) would manage the Lexington County Health Department to coordinate clinic operations, provide support to the site's management team to meet all program objectives and outcomes while abiding the policies and procedures of the agency.

Leadership and Management:

-Work with all Divisions to include Immunizations (IZ), Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Preventive Health (PH) and Maternal Children Health (MCH) to provide and schedule clinics of the site in support of clients.
-Direct and coordinate the necessary planning for the provision of clinic and community services; utilize the Client Automated Record Encounter System (CARES) and other data as necessary.

-Direct and provide clinical and community services within site(s) within the region as needed; work with community leaders to develop effective partnerships with the agency.
-Manage direct reports' time and leave within the South Carolina Enterprise Information System (SCEIS); assist managers to review all time and leave of of all staff reporting to the site.
-Complete annual employee performance management system (EPMS) for all direct reports and assist managers to conduct their reports reviews all meeting agency deadlines.
Emergency Preparedness:

-Ensure staff are trained and prepared to respond to emergencies.

-Assist with Medical Needs Shelter (MNS) operations, maintain supportive nursing practice competencies to include, but not limited to, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal.

-Administer oral medication, and client emergency response including First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator(AED), and be willing and available to assist during times of public health emergency response.


State Minimum Requirements: Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Some positions require a valid driver's license. Certification in Basic Life Support and/or Basic or Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Agency Additional Requirements: Must have current driver's license or ability to obtain transportation; If non-certified a CPR certification is needed within first 6 months and then as required; Must be able to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods; May be required to work evenings (after 5pm) and/or Saturday clinics; May have to travel to other sites at times and use your personal vehicle. .

Nursing experience and two years nurse management experience.
This position is part of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control's Administration. The work performed supports DHEC's mission to improve the quality of life for all South Carolinians by protecting and promoting the health of the public and the environment. Effective July 1, 2024, this position will transfer to the South Carolina Department of Public Health created by Senate Bill 399 which provides for the creation of the Department of Public Health to assume the public health-related functions of DHEC.

Driving Record:If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver's license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
