Registered Nurse Consultant Job Description
General Description
The RN Consultant shall be committed to the standards of nursing practice. Shall comply with the facility policies and procedures of the facility. Shall develop and maintain a nursing plan of care for each client. Work independently and with minimal supervision in collaboration with the Physician, QIDP’s and ID Team to identify and implement nursing interventions. Provides supervision and acts as a resource to other members of the team. Provides education and training to the clients as per Tittle 22 Regulations. Demonstrates advanced clinical skills. Solves complex clinical problems. Supports and promotes staff development.
Responsibilities
· Provide training to clients in personal hygiene, family life and sex education, including family planning and sexuality transmitted disease counseling.
· Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary staff/team when required by the client nursing care needs in the areas of pre-admission evaluation, placement of clients at the time of admission to the facility, periodic reevaluation of the type, extent and quality of nursing services and discharge planning.
· Development and implementation of a written plan for each client to provide for nursing services as part of the individual service plan (ISP), consistent with diagnostic, therapeutic and medication regimens.
· Review and revision, as necessary, of the nursing services section of the Individual Service Plan as necessary and at least every six months.
· Notifying physicians immediately of any client change of conditions.
· Provide training and support to staff as needed.
Duties
WEEKLY
· Visually examine each client
· Review and update consultations, notes, new orders, temporary problem lists, sign in consultant hours log book (one hour per client per week), client/ facility report logs, Controlled Med Audit, incident reports, client change conditions.
· Meet/communicate with QIDP and DNS.
· Route/notify physician orders slips, lab slips
BI-WEEKLY
· Medication Audit
MONTHLY
· Nursing Summaries Review and update: monthly weights/heights, consultant/ID Team Assessments, Drug Regimen Review, Physician Orders, Med and Treatment Sheets, Physician Progress Notes, Infection Control Log, Laboratory Orders, results and Discharge Summaries.
QUARTERLY
· Nursing Assessments
· Review pharmacy, Review/Destroy Controlled Meds
· Attendance to Committee Meetings: Infection Control and Human Rights.
SEMI-ANNUALLY
· Review/Update Nursing Care Plan, Individual Program Plan and Meeting for each client, ISP Assessment, Bowel/Bladder Assessment and Pressure Sore Risk Assessment.
ANUALLY
· Assure compliance for each client – PPD, H&P, Flu/Pneumonia, vaccines, vision/hearing exams, if needed.
· Assessments: Oral Health, Meds Self Admin, Side rails, and FRAT.
AS NEEDED
· Respond to text messages and answer calls as needed, provide in service education to the staff, monitor and assess DCS passing medications.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
