Job Title: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Catheterization Lab
Job Overview:
As a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, you will play a pivotal role in delivering specialized care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. Working in a dynamic and technologically advanced environment, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the optimal outcomes of patients with cardiovascular conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-Procedure Preparation:
- Review patient medical histories and assess their readiness for Cardiac Catheterization procedures.
- Educate patients and their families about the upcoming procedures, potential risks, benefits, and post-procedure care.
- Administer pre-procedure medications and ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Procedure Assistance:
- Assist the interventional cardiologist in preparing for and performing Cardiac Catheterization procedures, angiograms, and other related interventions.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and interpret hemodynamic data during procedures.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to respond promptly to any complications or changes in patient status.
- Post-Procedure Care:
- Provide post-procedure care, including monitoring vital signs, assessing access site integrity, and managing potential complications.
- Administer post-procedure medications and ensure patients are stable and comfortable.
- Educate patients on post-procedure care instructions and follow-up appointments.
- Patient Advocacy:
- Advocate for patients' needs and preferences throughout the entire catheterization process.
- Facilitate communication between patients, their families, and the healthcare team.
- Provide emotional support and address concerns during the pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure phases.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with interventional cardiologists, radiologic technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless and efficient procedures.
- Communicate effectively with pre-procedure and post-procedure nursing units to coordinate patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute insights to improve patient outcomes.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of pre-procedure assessments, intra-procedure events, and post-procedure care.
- Adhere to regulatory standards, institutional policies, and quality assurance measures.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
