Apex Recovery is a co-occurring drug and alcohol treatment program founded in 2013 and are licensed by the California Department of Health Care Services and accredited by the Joint Commission. Apex Recovery's mission is to provide the highest quality of care, treat every person and family in recovery with dignity and respect and our program is designed to ensure that all clients will be treated equally. Together, the Apex Recovery Team provides client centered treatment utilizing evidence based practices that rely on scientific, medical and behavioral research while incorporating holistic practices to support and treat the whole person. We offer a seamless transition to all levels of care.

The Apex Recovery Team is made up of highly trained and experienced professionals in providing clinically effective, recovery focused, trauma informed and culturally sensitive care. Our clinical treatment team consists of highly skilled and compassionate licensed marriage and family therapists, licensed nurses, certified SUD counselors and board-certified medical providers specializing in dual diagnosis.

In this position the RN works closely with the Nurse Practitioner and Medical Assistants, to facilitate the client's essential needs to ensure a safe and successful detoxification. This position on average consists of a significantly reduced caseload and documentation than most RN positions (compared to a hospital setting).

Required License/Certifications

  • Possess a current, unencumbered active Registered Nurse license or LVN/LPN from the California Board of Nursing
  • Have been licensed in California for a minimum of 6 months
  • CPR/First Aid Certified
  • Valid current driver's license

Minimum Requirements

  • Capacity to complete DOJ background check and debarment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to actively listen
  • Solid relationship-building capabilities
  • A positive and compassionate attitude
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize needs
  • Ability to adhere to documentation requirements
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • 1+ years of face to face experience, ideally working directly with clients
  • Willingness to stay updated on new treatments, protocols, and licensure requirements within the field

Additional Duties/ Qualifications:

  • Complies with established departmental and BHS policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Ability to organize, set priorities and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate in working with underserved communities.
  • Establishes and maintains contact with community resources to ensure continuity of care (e.g., case managers, rehabilitation and detoxification centers, psychiatric units).
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with clients, family members, other professional staff and the public.
  • Requests assistance and guidance from the Supervisor and professional staff when necessary to address client issues and problems.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops
  • Have the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with the treatment team, medical providers, professional staff, representatives from government and community agencies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by Supervisor

Achieves quality client care through co-operation, teamwork, and effective communication as evidenced by:

  • Consistently communicates in a positive and professional manner with staff members, clients, and visitors.
  • Gives appropriate feedback regarding the condition of assigned clients to the supervisor.
  • Follows directions given by the program Director and accepts responsibility for completing assigned duties.

  • Handles problems in a professional and proactive manner ensuring prompt notification to supervisor when necessary, and the client is satisfied with the outcome.
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the team and ensure that communication is clear, accurate, and professional.
  • Computer literate and ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally with clients, administration, the treatment team and family members
  • Familiar with using electronic medical records to track client progress and development as well as group notes.
  • Good documentation skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to use de-escalation techniques, including but not limited to: attentiveness to potential triggers/stressors and early indicators of distress.
  • Ability to model composure through use of calm voice and neutral facial expressions; remaining self-aware of verbal and non-verbal communication, prompting use of known coping skills.
  • Ability to provide responses that rely on engagement and empathy.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to assist in an emergency situation.

Work Location: In person

Job Type: Full-time Hourly, Monday through Friday (potential of 4 hour Saturday/Sunday shifts - flexibility in scheduling negotiable)

Starting Pay: $38.00 - $52.00 (based on experience & education)
