The successful candidate will assist in the care of our orthopedic and podiatry ambulatory patients in the PACU.

Responsibilities include:
Utilization of the nursing process in all aspects of the delivery of patient care and completion of all activities according to established policy, procedure and protocol.
Make critical, independent decisions.
Recognizes significant changes in the patient's condition, status, and need
Assesses the needs of the patient, plans and implements individualized interventions and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care. Includes the patient and family in planning and implementing care and develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare continuum.
Communicates accurate and timely information regarding patients and their care status to patients and their significant others.
Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient's responses are reassessed in order meet patient and family needs to ensure overall quality of care delivered.
Records pertinent information clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with patients, significant others, and co-workers.
Organizes a plan of care that incorporates physician prescribed treatments, nursing assessments and diagnostic data in a manner that is prioritized and timely.
Completes all point of care testing, reviews all labs and order. Performs all point of care testing according to the facility’s policies and procedures. Proficient is preparing the patient for surgery. Proficient with IV access skills
As a post-operative nurse prepares the patient for discharge making sure patient meets all discharge criteria. Makes sure all teaching is completed with both patient and patient’s family, makes sure patient has all prescription and supplies for post op care.
Implements orders for post anesthesia care, utilizes standards orders appropriately and per protocols. Demonstrates knowledge of critical care medications and administers them according to policy.
Performs appropriate cleaning functions for the unit.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Current RN Illinois license
- Previous PACU, ICU or ER experience required
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing; BSN preferred
- BLS certification
