Northwest Orthopaedic Specialties is hiring an RN for our Clinical Nurse position in our Valley location working under the direction of the Practice Administrator and Clinical Supervisor, assisting in the care of patients during office visits.
This position is 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday (no weekends, evenings or call)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
- Performs clinical procedures under supervision of the Office Manager/Clinic Manager, MD, NP, or PA.
- Rooms patients, records vital signs, enters/updates medications, verifies allergies and lists reaction, and updates/verifies pharmacy.
- Completes a medical history and updates surgical information accurately on all post-operative patients.
- Preps charts the day before or morning of clinic, including, but not limited to: gathering ER notes, op-notes, office notes from other providers, review present chart to asses types of documents needed for the day, what x-rays are indicated, and read the provider’s previous notes for directions.
- Assists all providers with casting procedures and/or splints, provides cast education to each patient.
- Opens and preps exam rooms, stocks as indicated. Cleans exam rooms and autoclaves instruments between patients.
- Draws and prepares injections per provider’s instructions, labels as indicated and records in EHR.
- Removes sutures and staples per provider’s instructions – if provider is not present, completes a nurses note in EHR, charges on super bill, and routes to provider for sign off.
- Provides pre-operative education per provider’s protocol and procedure type, record in EHR and gives to patient.
- Performs sterile dressing changes.
- Refills medications per provider protocols. Direct questions to the specific provider. Instruct patient on 48 hour refill process.
- Orders tests – X-rays, CT, US, MRI, lab draws per provider’s request.
- Calls patients with test results based upon written instructions from the provider.
- Maintains 90% accuracy in EHR charting.
- Attends staff meetings and is involved with peer evaluations, maintains annual skills checklist to evaluate stated responsibilities.
- Works in all clinic areas and locations as assigned.
- Works in collaboration with other staff to ensure clinical compliance with all mandated patient safety regulations. Maintains a safe and clean working environment consistent with OSHA, HIPAA, and other clinical guidelines along with NWOS standards. Recognizes and takes action on potentially unsafe acts. Assists with codes, fire drills and actual emergency situations.
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with providers, patients, patient families, visitors, co-workers, executive staff, and other NWOS employees in a professional and confidential manner.
- Complies with NWOS standard training for HIPAA, annual skills review, EHR proficiency and other education as deemed necessary by the Clinic Manager and Human Resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience & Training: To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job.
Required:
- Must hold a current RN license in the State of Washington.
- Must have a valid BLS.
Preferred:
One to two years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in orthopedics.
