Summary Of Job Duties The Clinical Registered Dietitian plays an essential leadership role in improving the quality of life of residents in long-term care facilities. The Clinical Registered Dietitian must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, care plan and provide services to the elderly population in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team. They assess the health of individual patients with medical conditions such as diabetes, renal failure, weight loss and wounds and construct dietary plans that provide adequate nutrition but minimize the condition's effects. The Clinical Registered Dietitian often oversees the meals prepared for residents, ensuring they meet appropriate nutritional standards and completing various kitchen audits as assigned.
Clinical Registered Dietitian Required Education & Experience
- Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Nutrition or Dietetics as well as the completion of the accredited Dietetic Internship program.
- One year of experience as a Clinical Registered Dietitian in a Long-Term Care setting preferred.
Required Skills
- General clinical knowledge, knowledge of nutritional supplements and knowledge of therapeutic diets. • Understand the principles of counseling and education.
- Sufficient understanding of Windows-based computer applications to learn and the ability to use electronic medical records. • Ability to organize one’s schedule and complete required reports.
