A large managed care organization has a Full-time CONTRACT TO HIRE Position for a Registered Dietitian.
Must have one to two years of related work experience, including data entry along with excellent communication skills, and professional demeanor. Interact with internal and external customers in a courteous manner in person and via telephone.
- PAY: $34.00 per hour
- CONTRACT:Contract to hire
- HOURS: Monday- Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- LOCATION:Las Vegas, NV 89128
This is a Registered Dietitian position needed to work with patients 1:1 to provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) on a variety of topics like weight management, diabetes, kidney disease, food allergies, gastrointestinal issues, heart health, child nutrition, and others. The candidate will work independently onsite (in-person) and have opportunities to telecommute. Prefer Spanish-speaker, but not required. They will have the opportunity to converse with a team of 5 other RDs for questions and support but must have experience working with a variety of patients and conditions and be able to do so with minimal supervision. Flexible days and hours.
• Research member-related health information to prepare for appointments.
• Educate members on health and wellness information related to disease processes.
• Use motivational interviewing techniques to help member identify and understand their intrinsic goals and engage in positive behavior change.
• Educate members on health plan resources and benefits and how to access.
• Document information (e.g., assessments, member interactions, referrals, follow-up plans) in relevant computer systems.
• Fax documentation to providers following visits with members.
• Communicate needs, issues, and concerns with supervisor and scheduling supervisor as needed.
5. What skills/attributes are required (please be detailed as to number of years of experience for each skill)?
• At least one year working experience as a Registered Dietitian.
• One year counseling patients of all ages on a variety of health topics like weight management, diabetes, heart health, renal disease, child nutrition, GI disorders, food allergies, etc.
• One year motivational interviewing experience.
• Ability to work independently and meet performance goals in both in-person and virtual environments.
• Ability to navigate multiple computer systems including Microsoft products, and ability to learn internal software systems.
6. What skills/attributes are preferred (what will set a candidate apart)?
Spanish speaker preferred
Advanced credentials, ie: Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management, Certified Lactation Counselor/International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, etc.
