Work hours: Day shift, flexible hours, 8 am to 5 pm mostly. Evening and/or weekend hours are available if desired.
Details:
•This position is used for gap coverage for 1:1 nutrition consults.
•Hours will vary depending on need and no set number of hours is guaranteed.
This is a Registered Dietitian position needed to work with patients 1:1 to provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) on a variety of topics like weight management, diabetes, kidney disease, food allergies, gastrointestinal issues, heart health, child nutrition, and others.
•The candidate will work independently onsite (in-person) and have opportunities to telecommute.
•Prefer Spanish-speaker, but not required.
•They will have the opportunity to converse with a team of 5 other RDs for questions and support but must have experience working with a variety of patients and conditions and be able to do so with minimal supervision.
•Flexible days and hours.
Top 5-10 responsibilities for this position:
•Research member-related health information to prepare for appointments.
•Educate members on health and wellness information related to disease processes.
•Use motivational interviewing techniques to help member identify and understand their intrinsic goals and engage in positive behavior change.
•Educate members on health plan resources and benefits and how to access them.
•Document information (e.g., assessments, member interactions, referrals, follow-up plans) in relevant computer systems.
•Fax documentation to providers following visits with members.
•Communicate needs, issues, and concerns with the supervisor and scheduling supervisor as needed.
Skills/attributes are required:
•At least one-year working experience as a Registered Dietitian.
•One-year counseling patients of all ages on a variety of health topics like weight management, diabetes, heart health, renal disease, child nutrition, GI disorders, food allergies, etc.
•One year motivational interviewing experience.
•Ability to work independently and meet performance goals in both in-person and virtual environments.
•Ability to navigate multiple computer systems including Microsoft products, and ability to learn internal software systems.
Skills/attributes are preferred:
•Spanish speaker preferred
•Advanced credentials, i.e.: Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management, Certified Lactation Counselor/International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, etc.
License required:
•Registered Dietitian through Commission on Dietetic Registration
•Licensed Dietitian in the state of Nevada
