Nevada City School of the Arts (NCSOTA), a TK-8 charter school in operation since 1994, is seeking a dynamic, culturally aware, stimulating and highly qualified teacher to join our paraprofessional school team.
SCHEDULE: 2023-24 School Year - Part Time
WAGE:$22.00 - $35.00 per hour, depending on experience
SUMMARY: The Nevada City School of the Arts (NCSOTA) Registered Behavioral Technician would work under the direction of the School Director and the Director of Student Services to support students and obtain the skills necessary to demonstrate appropriate, prosocial behavior and engage in the classroom safely and productively.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support students on the school campus including in the classroom, in small groups, and in 1:1 settings.
- Implement, update and provide input on behavior reduction and skill acquisition plans
- Maintain a caring, appropriate and supportive relationship with students with a variety of behavioral challenges.
- Believe in the possibility and value of behavioral change, through restorative practices, data driven research-based practices, skill building, and therapeutic relationships.
- Work collaboratively with a full range of stakeholders, including parents, guardians, mental health providers, school employees, administration, etc.
- Assist in providing training and consultation on behavioral functioning and needs of students.
- Collect accurate and appropriate data.
- Attend a variety of team meetings (SST's, 504, IEP, grade level, crisis management, etc.) and provide input, modeling, coaching and support as appropriate in order to support team in improving student behavior.
- Prepare and provide accurate and professional written materials and reports.
- Communicate clearly and effectively regarding student needs, progress, and concerns
- Comply with the rules and regulations set forth in the Professional and Ethical Compliance Code for Behavior Technicians, as well as with the policies and procedures of the Nevada County SELPA and each charter school, as assigned.
- Confers with teachers, and/or other school personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating student progress and the implementation of student objectives.
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Agrees to specific work-related training
- Abide by all NCSOTA Employee Handbook guidelines.
- Completion of mandatory training (video & in-person) within 6 weeks of employment and every year thereafter.
- Perform all other duties as needed or assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE Any combination equivalent to completion of high school-level education or equivalent required
- A minimum of one year of experience working with children with various behavior concerns
- Preferred experience in Trauma Informed Practices, Functional Communication, Tolerance Training, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Social Skills Training (SST), and data collection methodologies.

These requirements must be met prior to beginning employment and will be requested upon job offer acceptance.
- Hold and maintain a valid Board-Certified Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or completion of Registered Behavior Technician Certification
- Preferred: hold a valid certification from Crisis Prevention Institute or similar
- Fingerprint and Background clearance
- Valid Tuberculosis clearance and every four years thereafter
- CPR/First Aid Certification within 45 days of employment and every two years thereafter
- Evidence of Automobile Insurance and valid California Driver's License
