**Registered Behavior Technicians Needed on Maui! This is a contract position.**

Imua Family Services is looking for a Registered Behavior Technician to become a part of our team.The RBT is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of skill-acquisition and of behavior intervention plans developed by the supervisor. The RBT works under the supervision of the BCBA, but in collaboration with related service providers, parents, other RBTs, and other individuals working on the same case. The RBT may also collect data and conduct certain types of assessments (e.g., stimulus preference assessments). The RBT may work with individual children or small groups of children.

This position will provide services for families of children with autism. Imua Family Services is a non-profit serving Maui, Molokai, and Lanai since 1947. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

All duties and responsibilities are under ongoing supervision by a BCBA or BCaBA.

  • Candidate must be registered as an RBT, verifiable with the BACB, and remain in good standing.
  • Implementation of skill-acquisition and of behavior intervention plans developed by the supervisor (BCBA, BCaBA).
  • Obtain ongoing supervision for a minimum of 5% of the hours spent working directly with children and families while implementing skill-acquisition and behavior intervention plans developed by the supervisor (BCBA, BCaBA).
  • Implementation of behavior intervention plans may include de-escalation strategies and support holds utilizing Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or other formal restraint techniques with children who are engaging in challenging behaviors that include aggression or self-injury.
  • Supervision must include at least 2 face-to-face, synchronous contacts per month during which the supervisor observes the RBT implementing the skill-acquisition and behavior intervention plans.
  • Prepare data collection, implement measurement and recording procedures, and maintain data.
  • Assist with student assessment procedures (e. g., curriculum-based, developmental, social skills, assist with functional assessment procedures, observational recording of behavior and environment).
  • Implement a variety of teaching procedures (e.g., discrete trial, naturalistic teaching, stimulus control, stimulus fading, discrimination training, use of contingency reinforcement).
  • Understand essential components of a behavior plan and implement behavioral reduction interventions (e. g., differential reinforcement procedures, and extinction procedures).
  • Responsible for accurate documentation and reporting, and effective communication with supervisor.
  • Manage student behavior utilizing de-escalation and support hold training techniques.
  • Ability to use computer technology and knowledge of various software programs (e. g., Excel, Microsoft word) and willingness to lean new software and use of adaptive equipment as appropriate.
  • Meet student and environmental needs as required (e. g., lifting, bending, crawling, squatting, reaching, toileting, feeding, self-help skills, assisting with personal hygiene needs, and other duties as appropriate).
  • Openly flexible and responsible in working with multiple children at one time, when necessary.
  • Work toward fluency in the understanding of the appropriate assessments such as the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP).
  • Assists in the creation of instructional materials.
  • Effectively responds to and manages crisis situations which may include physical aggression.
  • Monitors children's behavior inside and outside of the center, including safety monitoring.
  • Attends a variety of in-service training sessions and other related meetings.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by the supervisor or by Imua Family Services.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  2. Holds certification as an RBT in good standing with BACB
  3. Pediatric experience working with children with autism from birth to eight years old is preferred.
  4. Experience with children and/or individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  5. Experience working as an RBT preferred.

This position is responsible for the provision of family-centered culturally competent services for children and their families, birth to age eight with typical development and developmental delays. This position provides interim and on-going care coordination services to families receiving services from Imua Family Services. The individual compiles information and the data necessary for programming and for accurate reports and billing to the Department of Health, Medicare medical insurance, and various funding sources. Essential duties and responsibilities also include providing information to other professionals and the community as well as conducting other clerical work and administrative duties as required.
