This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategic retail services initatives including sales strategies and staffing plans for grooming and pet training that lead to sales growth.This includes, but is not limited to partnering with stores for identification, development, and implementation of vet clinic services, vendor relationships, developing specific marketing plans, developing partnerships with local rescue groups, and implementing store and community events with a focus on adoption events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
Staffing/Recruiting/Retention Management:
- Partner with field to assist with hiring and staffing of Groom shops, making priority visits as needed to assist in recruiting, and hiring until staffing levels are acceptable.
- Final interview with all grooming applicants, Grooming and Dog training candidates to ensure the right fit for the position. This includes any future service offerings hires.
- Promote positive work environments, inclusive interactions between core and grooming staff.
- Work to resolve customer concerns, training gaps, and ensure our services staff and core staff are equipped to handle and resolve all issues.
- Proactively work to ensure we offer the best incentives to entice future applicants. This requires reviewing competitive offerings, hiring practices and pay levels.
Strategic and Business Operation Management:
- Partners with SSC leaders and Field Operations teams to develop and implement strategic sales and staffing plans that facilitate services business growth.
- Proactively develop programs and promotions with SSC leaders to ensure positive year over year sales and increase revenue in all services areas to meet sales goals and profitability.
- Review and ensure payroll guidelines and expectations are being met, while still investing to grow sales.
- Follow up on groom shop/training incident reports as needed to address any safety or policy issues and partner with the stores to provide more training and coaching to prevent incidents and promote safety in our groom shops as needed.
- Help reduce groom shop and services operating costs, supply expenses and eliminate incidents to ensure margin goal is met in Stores, Districts and Region.
- Ensure consistent standards are being met for groom shop cleanliness and sanitation
- Oversee and assist in planning and coordinating company-wide and local community event.
- Oversee and assist stores to develop successful adoption events.
- Oversee and assist in implementation and training of Pet Grooming & Software Training Programs with new stores, new SM's or services staff. This includes following up with grooming/dog training students to ensure they are on track with program guidelines and timelines, partnering with SM/DM to ensure trainee's are on task or get support.
- Conduct follow up calls and/or visits with new SM's to ensure they are comfortable with all aspects of grooming operations and staffing within first 30days of employment.
- Creating, implementing and conducting training calls around groom shop operations, sales building, staffing, or other related classes involving services or adoptions. This includes creating training programs around services to present to the field.
- Colaborate with SSC leaders to create/implement new service offerings and building programs to aid stores in successful sales growth and customer offerings, through creative ideas, processes, initiative, and following the industry movement.
- Partner with Marketing to plan the promotions of services aimed at driving sales, maximizing, profit, increasing awareness, and attracting our core customers. Mediums to be considered:print advertising (circulars), direct mail multi-channel, social, digital, POP, and more.
- Execute to the company-planned Sales Driving Initiatives to increase productivity. Includes working with cross-functional teams to assist in services development, tests, regional programs, and presentation.
Partnership Management:
Partner with third party service offerings such as vet clinics parternships, animal shelters, humane societies, and/or any incoming new businesses on initiatives, and execution to ensure stores growth and success of vet clinics.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 6+ years prior retail management experience required. Pet grooming and/or pet grooming supervisory experience preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Displays strong and demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability and proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook with an emphasis on spreadsheet applications.
