The Gist
To deliver results for the region leading a team of Lagunitas Senior Market Managers, Market Mangers, and Field Sales Managers. To do this, the Regional Sales Director (RSD) will lead the distributor/Lagunitas team to activate against the following sales drivers.
What You'll Do
- Develop volume targets for distributors by first developing distribution and rate of sale (ROS) targets based on sound logic and analytical thinking. Work closely with the Regional VP, Senior Market Managers and Market Managers to accomplish this task.
- Make sure these targets rollup in a way that is aligned with our Strategic Plan and are approved by the Regional VP and SVP Sales.
- Responsible for adhering to set dollar budgets and all company policies as set by management and the company. This is to include distributor - market and direct report budgets and guidelines.
- Responsible for execution of all marketing programs with Lagunitas teams and distributor organizations within retail accounts.
- Deliver the target volumes and distribution goals as stated in the specific region plan.
- RSD will oversee the Senior Market Managers, Market Managers and Field Sales Managers in developing the activity plans for each key distributor ensuring that they have clear and measurable objectives that, if achieved, will deliver the distribution and ROS targets. Ensure that the planned activities/programs make sense from a financial perspective.
- Responsible for managing pricing throughout the specific region, to include, FOB's, recommended PTR's and PTC's for every distributor in their territory. This applies to our requirement of a (6) six-month pricing survey for each market and the completion on a timely basis.
- Manage Local Development Fund budgets with distributors - ensuring that the budgets and spending are updated at all times Ensure flawless execution of programs by distributor personnel and our Sales staff.
- Responsible for execution of all chain programs (distribution/promotions/programming) and authorizations through distributor execution and Lagunitas team support.
- Work with Senior Market Managers and Market Managers to ensure that the documents (PowerPoint Presentation) for the Quarterly Business Reviews and the Oct/Nov Annual Review /Upcoming Year Kick-Off are completed to a high standard. Assist in doing the work where necessary.
- Lead along with the Senior Market Managers and Market Managers the quarterly meetings with distributors.
- Build close relationships with key distributor personnel.
- Build capabilities and skills sets of Senior Market Managers and Market Managers by working with them on a weekly basis and improving their Sales Matrix Scorecards on a yearly basis.
- Provide Market Insights to the Regional VP, SVP Sales and others at the Brewery.
What We're Lookin' For
- Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university desired.
- Minimum of 3 years of industry experience selling products on a regional basis to chains, distributor management, etc.
- Successful experience managing beer distributors and buyers.
- Knowledge and use of IRI/Nielsen syndicated data and VIP sales reporting systems.
- Extensive understanding of the industry, products, competitors and pricing strategies.
- In-depth knowledge of the three-tier distribution system; Knowledge of State Liquor Board rules & regulations.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment; willing to work flexible schedule, including weekends/evenings/holidays/overtime.
- Passion for Lagunitas and the beer business.
- Strong level of knowledge of beer and the brewing process.
- Outgoing/High energy; enjoys public interaction.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and stay organized, motivated, focused and efficient.
- Ability to work effectively with people at different levels across the organization and externally.
- Goal oriented with ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity and honesty.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Key Relationships
- Reports to the VP of sales.
- Manages Regional Sales staff.
- Will have frequent contact with distributor sales people and the Lagunitas Sales Administrative Manager.
Physical Stuff
- Extensive travel: 25 to 50% of time "on the road" (driving and flying)
- Unusual / extensive hours: May be required to work long or unpredictable hours. Work revolves around objectives, projects and priorities, not hours. Must be available nights and weekends
- Physical: Required to lift 35 lb. Cases, and 165 lb. kegs and various point-of-sales boxes on a periodic basis. May drive long distances (up to 8 hours)
- Other: Driver's license (in appropriate state with acceptable insurance record).
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
