The Regional Manager, Quality coordinates and develops the quality management organization for multiple manufacturing sites (Clinton and Dyersburg, TN). Regional Manager, Quality is responsible for plant quality assurance, quality compliance, and customer/vendor claim management. The position is responsible for the supervision of the Quality Labs and the site-specific Quality Management Systems. Regional Manager, Quality ensures that all products produced meet or exceed quality standards required by our customers. This position works in a TEAM environment to develop and implement best practices that emphasize defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste, and provide continuous improvements in meeting all customer requirements.
Experience & Education
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience successfully demonstrating leadership ability in quality at a manufacturing facility is required.
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree program with a focus on engineering, mathematics, statistics, or business is preferred.
  • Completed or in-progress training in continuous improvement methodology (LSS, Kaizen, etc.) is required.
  • Color matching skills and/or knowledge of plastic extrusion processes is preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience with IATF 16949, ISO 13485, UL, CSA, and NSF certifications and audits preferred.
Skills & Competencies
  • Evaluates and manages correction actions for issues with product quality by evaluating current issues and end state goals, then creating and completing systematic actionable plans.
  • Identifies root cause of product and process quality issues. Implements and enforces corrective action.
  • Leads in the development and implementation of quality technologies for RCI and Customer Complaints.
  • Effectively directs work, provides coaching, and makes hiring/firing decisions related to the quality labs.
  • Owns customer/vendor issues with GEON product.
  • Coordinates investigation and corrective actions on internal quality issues and customer complaints.
  • Assesses training needs, then develops and delivers training on quality outcomes to all site employees
  • Designs effective and efficient experiments to test quality outcomes.
  • Utilizes the Office suite proficiently for data analysis and process presentation.
  • Creates PPAP documentation for automotive customers.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensures that trials are being run according to MSA/CSA process.
  • Monitors and reports on quality KPIs (scrap, rework level, PPM).
  • Creates, reviews, and enforces corrective actions for customer/vendor issues and audit findings.
  • Reviews customer/vendor issues and tracks status of corrective actions.
  • Meets with direct reports to provide feedback and coaching.
  • Completes QR3 Reporting.
  • Meets with customers/vendors to understand quality requirements, issues, and provide updates on any ongoing corrective action.
  • Meets with quality leaders from other campuses to review and collaborate on QR3s and complaints.
  • Interviews and assesses candidates for plant quality positions.
  • Responsible for the safety, general performance, development, scheduling, and staffing of quality lab associates to meet forecasted production demand.
  • Summarizes and presents quality events at the site and the status of ongoing resolutions.
  • Lead and participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Collaborates with leadership to escalate quality issues to be acted upon. Present quality issues, impact, and outcomes in a way that is practical to business function.
  • Establishes and communicates quality goals and expectations. Enforces company policies and procedures with subordinates and peers.
  • Collaborates with Quality leadership at other campuses. Occasionally performs internal audits on other GEON facilities.
  • Coordinates investigation and corrective action on all plant-related customer complaints. Manage customer/vendor relationship - including audits of GEON sites and vendor sites. Represents the plants and GEON in all aspects of professional dealings with customers, the technology community, and the commercial group.
Key Goals & Deliverables
  • Increase Yield by increasing percentage of non-defective material produced safely.
  • Increase Rate by increasing the quantity of material that can be produced safely.
  • Increase Customer/Vendor Satisfaction by decreasing total claims, repeated claims, escalations, and response time.
  • Decrease Defect % by decreasing the percentage of total orders returned due to a GEON-caused quality issue.
  • Increase Audit Compliance by increasing the rate at which audit findings are identified and safely/effectively closed out.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to move through the plant: including ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and the like.
  • Regularly perform repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Regularly remains in a stationary position (ex: standing or sitting) for prolonged periods.
  • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly use safety equipment as dictated by the work area, such as: safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc.
  • Regularly exposed to moderate noise levels.
  • Occasionally exposed to high noise levels.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, vibration, and non-hazardous chemical agents.
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
Travel Requirements
  • Occasional travel to customers or to other GEON facilities.
  • Frequent travel between GEON sites of responsibility.
