Job description

Who we are...

Pearl Health is restoring the independence and joy of practicing medicine for doctors in the United States. Our healthcare system has burdened our doctors with too much process, while removing them from what they do best: caring for those we love most. We are a team of physicians and public health experts (Stanford, Dartmouth, Harvard, Mass. General), technologists (athenahealth, Apple, Amazon, Meta, Flatiron, WalMart Health), healthcare innovators (Oscar, Aledade, VillageMD, Stellar, Arcadia) and experienced risk management professionals (CVS/Aetna, Humana, Cigna, United) who believe that primary care providers (PCPs) are the key to the United States'  future health. Pearl recently announced a strategic partnership to proliferate value-based care with Walgreens, one of the largest healthcare companies in the country. Our investors include Andreessen Horowitz, Viking Global Investors, AlleyCorp, and SV Angel.

Pearl Health helps PCPs who are overwhelmed by the demands of an aging population and the unpredictable business model inherent to Traditional Medicare. Over time, this solution will empower PCPs to provide better care to their entire patient population. We believe there is a need to bring humanism back to healthcare by giving physicians the ability to better allocate their time with patients, increasing their autonomy, creating incentives that are aligned with achieving better outcomes through clinical decision-making powered by actionable intelligence, and making risk more available and more readily optimized through an intelligent marketplace. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) is launching a new value-based care program to disrupt Traditional Medicare, and we believe that this represents an opportunity to achieve the meaningful change we envision.

What We Hope You Can Do...

In this newly created Regional President, Medicare role, you will be a key member of the executive team and play a pivotal role in Pearl's rapid growth and Value-Based Care (VBC) footprint across the U.S. We are currently managing 80,000 lives, which is expected to grow 10x over the coming 2 years. The Regional President, Medicare will be responsible for driving successful partnerships with enterprise clients (e.g. large provider groups, hospitals and/or health systems, and payers) and cementing Pearl's leadership in these verticals. The Regional President, Medicare will oversee the entire enterprise provider (ie: large medical/provider groups, hospitals and/or health systems, etc), unit as well as the payor partnerships and operations vertical. This role will report to our General Manager of Medicare.

What You'll Be Owning...
  • Develop partnerships with major players in the provider landscape to drive market expansion; lead team members to successfully acquire new clients and drive successful partnerships.
  • Serve as an external evangelist, while overseeing existing relationships and creating new relationships with potential clients, key stakeholders, etc.
  • Lead a cross-functional team that values exceptional performance and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with the R&D and Growth teams to ensure that product offerings align with customer needs.
  • Partner closely with Marketing and PR teams to create and execute campaigns to generate leads and interest in Pearl's products and services.
  • Contribute to overall Pearl business development, strategy, and operations as a primary contributor and leader.
Who You Are...
  • 10+ years of experience in sales, business development, or commercial roles; deep understanding of the healthcare industry.
  • Direct experience as a Regional Business Development leader
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and executing large commercial deals.
  • Deep understanding of and experience managing medical loss ratio (MLR).
  • Strong network of contacts in the healthcare industry, particularly with large provider groups, hospitals and/or health systems, and payers.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure healthcare thought leadership opportunities for self &/or executive colleagues a plus.
  • Clinical/medical background a plus (but not required).
  • High growth startup leader with a passion for scaling businesses and transforming healthcare.
  • Culture builder; creates a highly collaborative, transparent, mission-driven environment.
  • Hands on and roll up your sleeves executive leader; comfortable with ambiguity.
  • A growth driver with impeccable ethics
