Job description

Best Veterinary Solutions, Inc., has an immediate opening for a Regional Operations Manager who works under the direction of the Warehouse Operations Manager to oversee aspects of the strategic planning, managing staff and daily operations to include safety, security, quality, productivity, reliability, compliance, and customer-service standards for all BVS warehouses assigned. Also includes meeting and exceeding service performance, and cost control, while contributing to the attainment of the business objectives. The Regional Operations Manager ensures all systems and processes meet or exceed industry standard.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development and execute short and long-term plans that maximize inventory turns and minimize excess inventory while meeting customer requirements.
  • Predict future inventory needs, produce plans for buying based on forecasts and sales data.
  • Work closely with the Procurement department to track and monitor inventory levels and production schedules, creating a stocking strategy while assisting the management of product flow throughout the organization.
  • Propose purchase orders to replenish stock avoiding insufficiencies or excessive surplus; expedite when needed/approved.
  • Collaborates with regional sales, customer service, and warehouse departments to maximize efficiency in the inventory control for BVS.
  • Create and maintain efficient and accurate inventory control best practices, consistent with company policy, SOPs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate staffing and training requirements.
  • Safeguard inventory assets to facilitate shortage detection. Initiate and maintain an efficient cycle count strategy.
  • Make system adjustments as required and analyze results of counts to initiate permanent corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all audits, counts, and adjustments. Confirm completion of cycle count activity as outlined in SOP.
  • Assist as an extension of BVS Transportation to provide feedback and suggestions to increase efficiency in delivery of product to customers throughout the region and organization.
  • Ensure that customer returned products are saleable and are processed in accordance with SOP.
  • Monitors and directs the work of others, provides vision and goals, performance feedback, coaching, and counseling.
  • Support and follow all reporting and documentation processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), documenting standard work and ensuring highest possible levels of productivity.
  • Analyze current operational processes and performance, recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Identify patterns and problem areas; implement effective solutions to problems.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations including OSHA, DOT, USDA, FDA, EPA.
  • Responsible for creating an atmosphere that promotes employee involvement while communicating regularly with all employees keeping them abreast of our Company values and goals.
  • Manage hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing performance of all service, team members including performance reviews and corrective actions.
  • Travel out-of-state to BVS locations a minimum of once per quarter. Other travel will be required for business purposes as needed. Estimated expected travel is 25% of each year.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated understanding of purchasing, warehouse and inventory management, product flow and productivity standards.
  • Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, and ethics when dealing with vendors, co-workers, and customers.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to others, understands material, and provide instructions to all team members.
  • Adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision.
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to lead by example.
  • Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure with a proactive approach to unusual occurrences.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems involving several options with limited information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as WMS software.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect customer, product, and employee safety.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metric using business management software.
  • Superior knowledge of industry regulations and operational guidelines.
  • 10+ years’ experience in an operational role with a minimum 5 years in leadership role.
  • Well versed in the poultry, swine and other animal health industries preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift over 50lbs.
  • Physically capable of manual labor that includes lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • Physical ability to operate industrial machinery and become forklift certified. The ability to work with and around industrial hazards.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extensive periods of time.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, driving or at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to travel by car or plane on an as needed basis to all BVS locations.
