JOB SUMMARY
The Regional Manager, External Affairs and Communication is responsible for regionally leading External Affairs, advocacy strategies, community engagement initiatives and Communication management with key stakeholders across the region. They will also support local and statewide advocacy actions that promote family leadership, voice and visibility on issues connected to public charter schools and family choice. The Regional Manager, External Affairs and Communication will work closely with the Executive Director to lead and implement strategic action plans that deepen partnerships with schools, families, community partners and other key stakeholders. They will also work in collaboration with the Director of Family Advocacy & Community Engagement to champion statewide campaigns and help to define and lead local actions on issues pertaining to public education and quality school options in their region. The Regional Manager, External Affairs and Communication will play an essential role in helping to deepen connections with the communities served across the region.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
External Affairs andAdvocacy:
Launch advocacy campaigns & training sessions across the region
Provide regional endorsement on key advocacy issues and initiatives that raise Aspire's visibility and presence in conversations centered on family choice and quality public school options
Co-create and implement activities designed to engage families as leaders in advocacy opportunities
Plan and lead regional events for teammates that are centered on advocacy and activism & deepen awareness on statewide legislative policies
Help to identify, enlist and lead regional advocacy teams (ROCs) to leverage the voices, experiences and the support of key stakeholders (families, teachers, site leaders) on strategic plans and issues that impact charter school students and families locally and across
Partner with school leaders to define a vision for family engagement including not only leadership and advocacy but also parent education, organizing and other forms of engagement and support for their students and communities
Work with site leaders to identify and build a base of parent and community leaders that can be activated to participate in local actions and statewide campaigns
Attend and maintain a consistent presence in meetings with local charter partners & other CMOs
Help to maintain relationships with local authorizers and local elected officials by proactively seeking opportunities that promote relationship building
Support regional teams and school sites with charter renewal planning and community engagement efforts with local authorizers
Build and maintain community asset maps that highlight key stakeholders, local partners and community leaders
Provide support with community and recruitment strategy to help increase enrollment efforts across all schools in the region
Train teammates and families to serve as school ambassadors and spokespersons
Ensure that all schools in the region are welcoming and inclusive spaces for all families
Communication
Support Aspire's essential communications and stewardship activities, ensuring that we tell the story, through regionalized context, effectively and compellingly with numerous key audiences.
Manage successful execution of regional communications activities across: student recruitment, partner communications, and internal communications
Seek out opportunities to collaborate with schools and departments to better understand Aspire's mission and vision in action and to fuel future, meaningful communications
Oversee several key external partnerships that serve to amplify the Aspire mission, vision, and brand
Serve as a point of contact for fielding and addressing community questions, concerns and feedback to help establish strong ties among schools, students and families
Additional:
Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
This role may require travel up to 50% time to schools across the region and engagement events and may require some periodic travel to all Aspire regions and/or other locations for conferences/professional development

QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies:
Proven ability to craft effective communications and outreach strategy
Excellent communications skills and strong public speaking skills
Excellent research, relationship building and networking skills
Passionate about education and community organizing and development
Ability to use data to drive decision making, issue resolution, and strategy development
Knowledge around community organizing and outreach strategies and practices
Experience planning and facilitating meetings, identifying community needs, working with community leaders and volunteers of diverse backgrounds.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
Be an active leader and learner
Minimum educational level:
Bachelor's degree or other professional experience equivalent to the role.
Experience required:
5+ years of experience in community organizing, family engagement, and or advocacy with a broad and diverse range of stakeholders and audiences
Experience working with TK-12 schools/ school leaders/ students and or families
Experience working in dynamic, high-performing work environment
