The Compliance Manager is responsible for managing the review of compliance in all areas of retail, wholesale, cultivation, manufacturing, and distribution operations.
The Compliance Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with evolving laws, rules, and regulations within the organization. This position requires in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, exceptional attention to detail, and strong leadership skills. The Compliance Manager will oversee various compliance-related activities, perform audits, train employees, and collaborate with departments to maintain a culture of compliance.
Personnel Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain audit checklists and conduct audits at various facilities to ensure compliance with evolving rules and mitigate the occurrence or risk of deficiencies, citations, or fines.
- Perform inspections of cultivation, manufacturing, retail operations and 3rd party operators, identifying and addressing potential risks to maintain compliance and product quality.
- Creation and support of the internal mock audit program.
- Train key employees on proper inspection protocols, promoting awareness and adherence to compliance standards across all levels of the organization.
- Develop and implement temporary solutions when deficiencies are identified during inspections, ensuring prompt and effective remediation and documentation of the same.
- Excellent proficiency in point-of-sale, seed-to-sale, and inventory control systems to effectively audit records, assist with investigations.
- Collaborate in creating and implementing standard operating procedures for compliant cultivation, manufacturing and retail operation processes.
- Assist in reviewing various operational functions and identifying potential compliance issues and escalate them to the Executive Team for appropriate action.
- Support day-to-day compliance needs, including responding to compliance related requests, investigating compliance and inventory issues, and fulfilling state reporting requirements.
- Assist in managing and providing guidance to the 3rd Party Compliance Manager, overseeing their daily activities, and fostering their professional growth.
- Collaborate with Executive Team to develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on rules and procedures to ensure compliance at each facility.
- Work closely with the Executive Team to establish compliance standards for critical processes, ensuring consistency and adherence throughout the organization.
- Prepare the team for unannounced inspections and attend inspections, providing guidance and support to ensure compliance during the inspection process.
- Manage compliance emails and provide efficient and timely communication.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in job related field, prefer experience in commercial cannabis, specifically AZDHS regulations and rules
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Applications (Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Effective communication skills, written & verbal, to present to all levels of organization. Must have the ability to develop and foster strong working relationships throughout all levels of the organization.

Able to organize, prioritize, and execute a variable workload and multiple priorities - Candidate must successfully pass a criminal background investigation and fingerprint clearance.
