JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB CLASSIFICATION: REFRIGERATION ENGINEER
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: Department Supervisor
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This job description contains the major duties but does not attempt to consider all the functions and responsibilities of the employee.
JOB DUTIES:
- Operate refrigeration and boiler equipment including; steams boilers, ammonia compressors, air compressors, blancher and freezer belts. Use temperature gauges, pressure readings and meters to monitor efficiency.
- Maintain refrigeration and boiler equipment using a ladder, lift truck, scissor lift, boom lift, welder, plasma cutter, hand tools and power tools.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical failures using electrical meter and hand tools.
- Maintain current equipment and processing logs as outlined in the Refrigeration forms and logs COP.
- Proven forklift driving skills and certification are required.
- Maintain cleanliness in the boiler and engine rooms.
- General plant cleanup using squeegee, shovel, broom, wheelbarrow and water hose to keep working area free of loose product, excess water, and other debris.
- Continual product observation for foreign material.
- Work cooperatively with Shift Supervisor and fellow employees.
- Practice good housekeeping at all times.
- Report all safety hazards to the Shift Supervisor.
- Obey all safety, health, sanitation, and plant rules and procedures.
- Perform other duties as directed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Strength – Lift 50 lbs. Maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Stand – Continual standing during shift for a maximum of 3 hours prior to each break period.
- Walk – Continual walking both inside and outside of the plant.
- Climb – Steps, stairs and ladders as necessary.
- Reach – Extend both hands and arms in any direction.
- Handle – Seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with the hands.
- Twist/Turn – Able to turn/twist trunk of body from side to side.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS RELATED TO THE JOB:
Work Surface – Concrete, metal platforms, rubber pads, asphalt and gravel.

Pay: $21.55 - $27.35 per hour
