DSHS WSH Recreation Therapist 2

In this role, you will serve as an active member of the interdisciplinary team providing comprehensive Recreation Therapy Services, which includes, conducting assessments, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting therapeutic recreation interventions.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
Some of what you'll do:
- Assess patients, plan therapeutic recreation interventions, conduct therapeutic recreation groups, conduct groups within the Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity (NGRI) program and patients being evaluated for their competency to stand trial, and evaluate individual's progress
- Documents patient's progress and/or emergent incident involving patient in the patient chart
- Maintain attendance for all programs led
- As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the RT (Recreation Therapist) provides input regarding patient's progress during recreation therapy groups
- Attends Evaluation and Treatment Conferences (ETCs) and assists in formulation of patient's treatment plan
- Attends Rehab meetings as scheduled
- Assists with Rehab sponsored events such as holidays, special events and diversity activities as needed
- Participates in Rehab Quality Management activities to review/enhance evidence-based TR services
What we're looking for:
- Strong leadership, planning, and facilitation skills
- Ability to confidently lead groups of adults with a variety of mental and behavioral health challenges
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge and experience in intervening and de-escalating in crisis or potentially dangerous situations with the ability to safely physically intervene to protect patients from harming themselves or others by following agency policy and procedures
Who should apply?
Professionals who have graduated from an accredited Therapeutic Recreation Program - Applicants must hold CTRS certification from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation and must register with the Washington State Department of Health.
